Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

They closed that last week, due to local government cut backs, now they just throw the pets in the river

Losing pets sucks.

You become so attached to them. If he is in real pain, it is best to get him put to sleep...

yeah well he doesnt eat otherwise..... i bought a huge bag of frozen chicken @ costco.... i bbq up a few breasts at a time and hes normally down to eat that.

the dog takes 8 pills a day and he needs to eat with them.

funny thing is... i think its cheaper to get the chicken breasts than it is to buy canned dog food.... and chicken breast is pretty clean i suppose. canned dog food is mainly crude fat and im not even sure wtf that is or where it comes from.

His diet is whats killing him. Feeding them table scraps is the worst thing you can do to them. And yes he will eat regular dog food if you dont give in and let him have people food...

I feel for you. My cat was the same way years ago. Just 2 weeks, no 3 weeks ago, my new Boston Terrier puppy Veronica was let out of my office by a driver. She ran straight out into the highway and was run over. She died in my arms within minutes. Veronica was 8 months old and a christmas present for my kids. Spend what last minutes you have with your dog and make him happy.

He's not feeding table scraps, he is feeding chicken. My bulldog grew up on an all liver/heart diet until he was 3. I was giving him chicken also but I found out raw chicken can be as bad for an animal as it is for a person. This diet was recommeneded by several vets.

Sorry about your dog, had to put my old mutt Bear to sleep a few years back at the ripe old age of 17. She had started to get tumors really bad two years before that, vet removed it and warned that she only had a few months to live and to say goodbye to her, etc. Well she showed that bastard, she lived over a year and a half past that before the tumors started coming back. That dog didn't want to die, but towards the end she had no strength left to fight so I had to get her put to sleep. Was a pretty tranquil moment really.

Now if I could just get all the cats of the world put to sleep I think I could die a happy death.

oh man, i am so sorry! losing a pet is like losing a family member. my grandparents had a dog several years back, that got cancer at a young age. their only regret is that they couldnt put him to sleep sooner (too hard on them). i know its hard, and i know its rough, but please just put him out of his misery if/when it gets THAT bad. god bless!!

Sad thing .. sorry to hear that bro ...

Have a 10 y.o dobermann myself with standing ears ... a great friend.
Just the average age for a doberman is 9 years ... mine is +10 ...

Okay hes not doing bad atm, but still the fact that I know he passed the average age for more then a year already makes me afraid about the feature

Every time I ask myself, how long before ....

Very to sorry to hear that. I hate losing a pet, it's one of the hardest things. You just have to look into the best interest for the animal. Again sorry to hear.

First of all my condolences.....I hate to say this but make sure your dog won't
suffer on his last days. You might want to keep him with you as long as possible but if that means your dog is suffering you have to reconsider. If you really love
your dog you do what's best for him....even though if that means you have to
part a bit sooner.

I know it's a very hard decision I've been there before.....but afterwards I'm
glad I did.....coz now I know that I spared him the unnecesary suffering.

Good Luck....get a new dog asap....a new dog will help you through your grief
and remind you of all the funny things and good times you had with your old
dog. You'll love your new dog as much as your old even though you're not sure
about that now.

That's awful to hear! My mother just found out Monday, that her 11 year old yorkie has a murmur and fluid build up in her lungs. I feel for ya. Try whipped cream, dogs really like that, and make sure to take all the pictures you can.
