How do I: mount a directory on my computer to....

assign it a drive letter to make the computer think that the directory is a dvd/cd rom?

A bit confusing, but if you?re trying to load a bin/cue, iso file, etc. to 'emulate' a dvd-rom, download a program called Daemon Tools. If you want to create a new partition on your drive you'll have to get some partitioner software such as paragon partition manager. If it ain't any of these, dunno.

Map a drive.... not familiar with XP, but should be much the same...

Windows Explorer > Tools > Map Network Drive

and select a free drive letter and the path...

you can mount images (.iso, .cue, etc) with alcohol 120% or .iso only with nero image drive as CD-rom drives... but normal directories, I don't know
