so how do rep accounts work

when i sign up thru a link of an affiliate or just thru the main site without ref codes how the fuck they decide which 'rep' gets the account? And when i signup for some programs i get a mail or message saying 'your rep is this and that'... but who really cares? i just hit up anyone thats online at that moment...

Ahh nevermind I am not going into details (deleted most of what I wrote).

Some just float sigs, stir up shit and try to get affiliates. Others actually know what they are doing, have a track record in the industry and can actually help you out or provide you with some insight or other assistance.

Honestly I believe that each employee should work for the good of the company, not a spreadsheet. Fire the imcompetent ones. But most bosses want to see a spreadsheet.

I can't speak for other companies, obviously. But my job is to provide support for our affiliates, regardless of how they signed up. Period. All JayMan Cash affiliates are my affiliates, in terms of getting support.

You hit the nail on the head. Some guys/girls are there to be a public face that starts up controversy or makes people notice a company... Some are there because they know HOW to work with affiliates...And some do both.

Depends on the company and whether they pay on commission or quota.

Some companies will not let you assist any affiliate that didn't originally sign up under your link cuz they dont' trust you to see all the numbers. That always sucks cuz you could help them immediately but you have to sound like a dumbshit and tell them "Sorry I don't have access to your account".

Some companies expect you to bring a certain number of affiliates to the program each day and if they don't use your link for whatever reason, they won't switch them to you. This is usually because they are paying a decent commission and they want any excuse to not pay you for any accounts possible.

Some companies allow you to move an affiliate to your list and expect you to take care of them permanently if they came to you for any reason at all.

I've worked places where I honestly just didn't want the other reps bugging my people. I know what they need and when they need it. I don't want them being badgered weekly by reps that have very little experience and don't know the webmasters or their sites.

I always figure that my salary stands for helping any and all affiliate in the database. Going after dormant accounts, helping the whales in getting them whatever they need, contributing ideas which will benefit the affiliate program as a whole, etc. I can't stand being in a position where my sole purpose is ONLY to get new people. I'd get bored too fast. I love every aspect of what I do.

As the saying goes, "You can't get paid for more than you do until you do more than you get paid for. "

Anyway.. blah I got too wordy there, sorry.

I was gonna address that too but forgot. Yeah, totally.. public face and attention whorism is more of the marketing side I guess. It really doesn't have a whole lot to do with affiliate care, improving the program, or business agreements or trades.

Also, come companies think it's better to have a whole bunch of reps instead of a few high qualified experienced ones. I think that causes more bickering and fighting over accounts and in reality, it costs the company more money. A bunch of unhappy underpaid people are not more productive than a couple high paid, respected, hard working people with $$$ Motivation $$$

But also, some programs have 500 affiliates while others have thousands. That makes a big difference as well.

Ok I'm done rambling...
