What works best for you?

I see everyone suggesting 10,000 keyword campaigns and stressing loading up your campaign with keywords. I have yet to break 20 keywords in a campaign and usually see ROI around 200%.

Am I missing out on something?

depends on the site. if it converts amazingly well, you keep expanding the kw list.

i have some interesting data, if you email me (contact in sig) and remind me to dig it out i'll share it with everyone.. we're in the middle of moving to a new office, its packed away..

anyway its a study from yahoo on what the average length of the average keyword search is.

something like 50%+ of searches are 3-4 words, only like 10% are 1-2.

ask yourselves how many of the keywords in your campaigns are only 1-2 words long.

it definitely made me rethink things..

I usually start small, with very targetted keywords. Build up a history of high CTR and then slowly start adding more relevant keywords.
