if you can find a Sony HC-1 buy it...the have stopped making it and the replacment HC-3 is more consumer than prosumer. The HC-3 lacks a manual focus ring and external audio outputs.

They are about $1500 if you can find one.

stay away from the HC1/HC3. I have compared the picture quality side by side with the FX1 on a big HDTV and the FX1 blows it away. On the computer monitor you wont notice any difference.

It is the CMOS vs. the 3CCD that makes the difference in quality.

which one has the good still camera function built in?

i overheard someone talking about it, it was one of the new higher end ones, had like a 8 megapixel digital camera built into it
