Jesus dude.. REALLY? That's some cold shit to say. He was a man (crazy yes) that had a passion for all living things. You may disagree with what he did for a profession, but it certainly took courage and integrity to live up to it. Qualities that most do not posess.

RIP Steve Irwin!

I'm sure him and his family were aware of the risks that came with what he did, but still, sometimes things should stay in your head.

What is sad is all the kids that know of him from around the world.

I didn't know much about sting rays but I found this page that had some info on them....

http://www.nswseakayaker.asn.au/mag/47/stingrays.html

We almost caught one fishing years ago - I never knew these creatures could be so dangerous. RIP Steve.

you idiot.

This is a guy who spent 10s of millions every year on conservation and the protection of wild life.

How does a guy like that "deserve it" ?

He was an Aussie icon and did untold work for wildlife the world over, while putting his life on the line for his passion on a daily basis. Aside from my sympathy, he also has my respect and that of millions of others.

Damn, at least he died in a way he would have liked (as much as is possible). The only question now is, who will take his place? Paul Hogan, Steve Irwin... who could fill those shoes? The Platypus Hunter?

Snakes, spiders, crocs, sharks and all other shit and he carks it to a stingray...

Sad for his family - but at least he went out doing something he loved !

Still a sad day.

Vale The Croc Hunter !

"Irwin was killed by a stingray barb that went through his chest, according to Cairns police sources. Irwin was filming an underwater documentary at the time."

I would like to know if the film crew filmed him getting stung?

I just woke up and heard - thats a bit of a shocker.

I think his heart was in the right place, even if it did come accross as a bit of a showoff and a dreadful ham.

I saw him in tears more than once when he saw a hurt animal or something like that - he was genuine in his love for the animals.

I'm sure that he was well covered one way or another.. besides that he made some decent coin for the tv, movie stuff..

Very sad. I think people who say "he deserved it" are jealous because they don't have the heart or balls to put himself on the line for something he believes in.
