Looking for a business partner - multiple avenues
There are a couple different ways to go.
This person could know C ++ or any other WIndows based platform programming language themselves, have one on staff, or be willing to make the connection between me and someone who is for a small cut of the business. The person is willing to financially back the actual programming of the software that needs to be developed to make the concept a reality. This is something I have had thoughts of doing on and off for years, I did get some quotes on it and got fairly in depth in talks with various programmers regarding it. The one company who satisfied all of my concerns but a couple was bidding in the $8,000 range with a month worth of work. I believe they were foreign based but were not one of the cheap foreign based firms. The type of detail, planning, and involvement that would go into this project beyond the basic programming of the project is fairly high. It is not by any means a simple project we could have up and running in a month, even if the programmer pushed the project out by then. We would be looking at a bare minimumof 3 months with testing and everything included. There is also database gathering, serious (very very serious) pre launch testing, and putting together an effective launch campaign for marketing. If we got to this point, and I had the funds, I would be able to spend $2500 out of pocket at this point towards marketing. If i don't have the money, I would make it a point to get a loan or do whatever it takes. I strong believe in this project and the amountof free PR out there for this product is absolutely staggering, especially with current events in the target market for this product. There is one program that came out that was sort of similar that failed due to causing severe computer lockups from what I have read. It is either that or alot of unhappy users are saying that is the case because the program is working too well and they are doing a poor job of PR and marketing. I know this is extremely vague but prior to getting into any serious conversations with anyone about this idea I would want full confidentiality agreements signed and would want to make sure I was covered from any possibility of this being 'passed on' to a friend of yours after our conversation. If I know you, it would make things alot easier ... but I know the number of people I know from way back when that are still around are few and far between. This is one of those things, once launched, you would be looking back at and saying "Why didn't I think of that myself" The ONLY reason it hasn't been done yet is because of the barriers out there and the difficulty that would come in programming and maintaining this software, as well as the billing structure, and the 'capturing the person in the mood sale' being problematic due to the nature of the problem. I know it seems bizarre and most people reading this are going "Has this guy flipped his lid?" - I assure you though ... this is the platform for a product that would be anchored off a current multi billion dollar online industry. I don't read here as much as I used to, so if you have anything important to say drop me a line at [email protected] ... I will try to pop in and take a look tomorrow sometime (if I can find the thread) Ryan Lanane

Idea's aren't worth money. Products are.

I agree, but there wouldn't ever be any products without ideas
![]() Not here to wage war, and this isn't geared toward someone who isn't serious about investing regardless of whether they are a programmer or not. This will take an investment of alot of time if they are a programmer and time and money if they aren't.

Trick is, everyone has ideas. Most folks have ideas that could be plenty profitable. If all you bring to the table is an idea with no work... good luck with that. =)

Never said I wouldn't be working on this project, I would have plenty of work to do to make sure this project was launched properly. There is alot more to do then simply whipping up the code and making a 5 megabyte database.
The amount of work to get the database needed together ALONE is staggering, and would be a huge part of the project I would personally handle including paying for outsourced employees out of my pocket. It would require myself and an outsourcing TEAM to take care of ... MILLIONS of urls would need to be databased ... I am willing to start the funding of this portion immediately if needed. If anyone else has any other questions drop me a line, I'm not looking for a free ride here, I am very flexible but simply can't cover this by myself financially period. As I said this is something I have been thinking about for a long time. It is also something alot of GFY'ers just might end up with on their computer if it became a reality. You guys would make the perfect target audience for this product actually .. Ironically enough. And if you're thinking the investment is to small to make it worth your while, you are the type of investor who would be very excited once I started going over the proposal with you. Think Microsoft stock during the IPO type of returns.... No, not kidding... If everything was done right. Then again, what businessman isn't confident in the product they are offering?

Sounds like work. No thanks.
Best of luck though. I suggest you do it on your own and keep all that money to yourself. |

Best thing to do is get a rudimentary version of the project operating with your own cash and time, when you can show that it makes a small profit, then you go looking for VC.
VC is a lot easier to get if you have a machine where you put coins in one end and print dollars out the other. |

Mr.BB - I've thought that over time and time again.. and looked at every possible route to go but the problem is the program itself is very complex, and would involve extensive knowledge of TCP/IP and it's operation on all layers from the application down to the physical ..
If someone who has experience in programming would want to go that route with me, and then take it to VC funding companies - I would be more than willing to talk to them about that as well as long as they realized the type of cut they would have in the company would be less of course. The more the person brings to the table the more they would be offered, I am willing to let partners in for as little as introducing me to the right people who can get the ball rolling as I said previously. If you, or anyone you can think of might be able to help - drop me a line. I'm willing to do the leg work to get a super basic database going, we could get a basic version of the program (that needs the bells and whistles added), and proceed to real funding allocation from that point. I'm extremely open to ideas here ... I just want to get the ball rolling on this finally instead of letting it gather more cobwebs. The best way to do that is ask for a helping hand in the areas I lack ![]()
