Domain branding questions

say I have a very unique & bandable dot com domain & then next all of a sudden some people goes out & register the other tld & extensions of this unique & very brandable name.. Should I file something with Icann to take them away from the people who are technically stealing my brand? When I first reg this name all tld were available, but since there's so many extensions I didn't buy them all, I got com & net, but now today I thought of getting the others & see that some sneaky fuckers registered .org, .info .eu & for christ sakes .cn?

Unless you've got a trademark, I doubt you can do much.

Brandable is a subjective statement...

Is the domain a name you made up of 1 or more word(s) that would normally not go together? Is it a generic term? Also, is your "Brand" easily confused with the competition? These are questions that must be answered first here...

In my opinion, if it’s a generic term, it’s the site and site content that dictates whether its stealing an identity" from a competing website. I mean if you have tiger.com and tiger.net and 1 sells plush animals and 1 sells computers... is it truly an issue?

KrisKross said it. I have a registered trademark with the USPTO and it's the only way to get any pull on a domain dispute.

I would let them register the other TLD's IMO there is only 1 and it's .com

I do believe in the only .com theory but on the flip...
Those other domain extensions can wreak havoc on your biz if they get ahead of you in the SERPS. Also, if you are running a mainstream site and the other tlds you don?t own are turned into porn sites... That becomes a huge branding problem for you. All depends upon the scenario. I have sites that I have only had the .com and there has never been an issue.
