Conspiracy theory freaks, how about this one?

Google is just a Big Brother front, used to gain trust in order to gain access to as much info as possible, via searches, e-mail and more. Now, wouldn't THAT be something?

No, I'm pretty sure that that's their whole point. Now, what will they do now that they've leveraged your personal information on the web - not to mention that you have a gmail account and they know which sites you run.

They're coming. Do you hear the footsteps outside the door?

OK, all kidding aside, I don't believe in that scenario. But suppose someone got control of Google, hostile takeover, or government deal behind closed doors. Don't you think they're sitting on uncomfortable amounts of information?

They might

I do however don't have any info on either gmail or google I do not wish the rest of the world to know about.
Maybe some passwords and shit on gmail but that's no different from other emails.

They might collect my search habbits which would give them no fuel to the fire either.

I read something about project monarch the other day after my wife showed me this insane video that was supposed to be released in the 80s but was blocked by congress - unrelated to google but really freaky!
