I may buy this motorcycle ... (first bike) (pics)

I've been thinking about a bike for some time now ... my neighbor happens to have this bike and wants $1k for it (he bought something bigger). I would love a Harley but for my first bike i want a beater ..something i can drop and not worry .. it runs great and I think it has a cool look for a Honda ... I like the primer black and straight bar ...

my other choice was a Buell blast for $2k but i think that one is sold ..not sure.

what do you motorcycle guys think of this for a first bike?

Nice bike! Personally, I would go for something very light as a first bike. So you have a chance to hold it when it tips over. Something like a super moto bike, but of course this is a totally different kind of bike.

That's a nice starter bike and not bad for $1k! My good friend has a Buell Blast and she loves it. It's a perfect fit for her. Can't go wrong with either one.

But I would consider the $1k a nice bargain. Buy it and learn off on it. Don't forget to take a safety class. ;)

Not bad, most people wont even be able to tell the difference between that and a harley. Never buy a expensive bike as your first bike, i had a CB350 as my first bike and i dropped it, beat the piss out of it and they gave it to my friend to learn on,then i bought my first harley. Its perfect for a beginner and it doesnt look bad either.

I was thinking the same thing .. I want something i can beat up and not worry .. I was looking at used bikes last year in the $5k range and Mr Izzz told me the same thing ... just buy a beater because you'll drop it ... he said he's even gotten off his first bike to get gas and forgot to put the stand down

and i think it's pretty cool looking ..

I like the sports bikes also .. but I'm 31 yrs old/210lb and don't want to be that guy ...lol this bike is only a 1999 and seems to be a really well kept bike ( mechanically ) .. i like the rough look and straight bars .. it's pretty stripped down .. no mirrors or speedometer .. just the basics. hell I don't even want the directional lights but i guess they are best for a new rider

I was thinking of offering him $800 ... but i think it will be a slap in the face ... i know he was asking $1500 a few weeks ago and now that he has his new bike he just wants to get rid of it so dropped it to $1k ..

I guess I would check the local laws.. on what is and isn't allowed. I get shit all the time for having an non stock exhaust.. even though there is no fucking LAW!

Cops will find any reason to pull you over. I would replace the turn signals with integrated lights. if they have them

Thats an advantage of being a harley rider, cops dont pull you over for stuff like that. I have been riding for 18 years now and only got pulled over once for loud pipes on my old sportster. Most cops i know all ride harleys and tend to pull over sport bike riders more often than harley owners. Then again most sport biker riders ride like idiots, so they get pulled over more often.

Yeah would think it should have a speedometer but I don't care if i get a ticket .. if they pull me over then i guess i was speeding ..

I think this will fall under the Harley type bike .. I see lots of kids racing around on the crotch rocket bikes and the cops always stop them ..i hardly ever see them with a guy on a Harley pulled over

I know that theory is true. The point of having a sport bike is like a sports car.. you are going to open it up atleast once. Cops know this. The bike I ride is made for speed. But 9 times out of 10 a lot of us run from the cops if we know are tags aren't written down or if we see a cop trying to catch up to us to get our tags to pull us over.

When ever I get pulled over they give me a lame excuse. Like this isn't legal I could give you a ticket for this but I am just informing you yadda yadda. They are fishing for major shit. Stolen bikes.. Kids with no licences riding bikes.

I am just respectfull when I get pulled over and I normally get let go.. 0 tickets so far in my 636 and 0 in my SS camaro but like 3 in my truck.. go figure that one out
