Wordpress crew - sidebar ad solutions?

Does anyone know about a script that can handle rotating banners in sidebar.php?

Any simple PHP ad rotator script will work. Here's a bunch of them:

Thanks!

I was wondering if there was something more like plug n play using their plugin system to avoid editing, but oh well...

I'm going subdomain and spread across like you said. Uploading now, I'll let you know how it went ;)

I have this rule, which I don't know how accurate it is, but I think that if the documentation is good and polished, so is the software.

you are right on the nose with this one...phpads is an amazing program, there is a HUGE learning curve though..it will take an hour or so for you to get it all down....

Wow, thanks RRRED. I'm sorry, but I'm not good at this stuff and tend to blush.

I am putting some time in the mornings, between classes and evenings to try to get something going. I haven't been very productive to the sponsors yet, mostly because my TGPs may have a clumsy design, but that's going to change when I finish polishing the blog. I have other stuff queued up too, but it will take some time.

Anyway, thanks for the comments. I greatly appreciate it. =)

well, hm...the network I am using it on isn't ready to be made public yet

the concept is simple though, you just go into the phpadsnew admin and tell it which zone you want to display, then select "remote invocation", it gives you a nice little javascript and you put that anywhere you want the ad to show up

I have each of my zones based on banner and ad sizes, so when I have a spot I need to fill, I just go into my phpads admin and find that zone/banner size, and grab the code for it....and also, if you have more than one of the same ad on a single page, you can select to not show the same ad twice

Well, I haven't implemented the ads yet, but the admin is VERY nice. You can actually choose what dates you want them shown (good for halloween, christmas, etc. themed ads).

Looking good. Thanks again for this great find, Jace.

Is there a way to combine banner size in a single placement? I have this spot with is perfect for anything ranging from 120x240 to 100x400. In fact, as long as they are vertical, I'm good.

How would I add several size groups to the ad invocation code?

If you do specify a banner size for a zone, phpAdsNew doesn't require you to confirm the size of each banner you add to that zone. But if you do not specify a banner size, you can add any size of banner you like. In fact, scripts like phpAdsNew allow you to run text or mixed promos and don't require their size to be specified at all.

PS there are WordPress ad plugins, but you still have to add where you want the ads displayed, so there is the same "editing". None of these plugins is an effective replacement for a full-blown advert display script.

Yeah, phpadsnew rocks. Like you, we have it installed on one domain (http://www.amkads.com) and run it on all of our sites from there. The learning curve is kind of steep, but it's a very capable and scalable solution.

Anyone know of a good, open source, portal software? It doesn't have to be very complex, in fact, the simpler, the merrier.

I'm trying out Joomla, but the thing is so heavy it's unreal.

I just want a main page with a sidebar to other pages. Pretty simple stuff.
