How many of you have this prob w/ LCD screens?

DEAD PIXELS!!!

How common is this anyway?

Not sure if I believe the sales people since nobody ever wants to take something back but how many dead pixels are you supposed to have on your screen without getting pissed?

Thinking about how these dead pixels are showing up, whats the life span of a LCD display anyway? I mean is this thing going to last 5 years or just get filled with more and more dead pixels? I'm assuming there's no real fix for it either am I right?

All I've been told is that it's an "anomaly" (sp)

This drives me nuts!

i have none
but if you have like more than 5-6, depending on model, the company will take it back and give you a new one

or you can search google for some free programs taht could potentially help fix the pixels by flashing repeatedly colors, some people swear it works

LCD Monitors...

Is your monitor class A,B or C ???

Class A does not have any dead pixels
Class B has a few dead pixels and the very bottem...
Class C can have dead pixels anywhere

If you have picked up a class A LCD monitor and it has dead pixels then take it back and get it replaced !

Good luck,

Most LCD monitors will have a few dead pixels in them. My F-419 has the least (2), my dell monitors have the most (about 4 each). They are not noticeable unless you are using a dead pixel finder. Shitty, shitty LCD monitors will sometime have dead pixels all in a row, rarely even a whole line of dead pixels (that is an entire line on your screen will = dead pixels, very easily noticeable and very annoying).

You can try to ‘pop’ the dead pixel by using a very soft lint-free cloth or a plastic ziplock bag (or any other clean plastic bag). Gently massage the dead pixel and the area around the dead pixel. I’ve gotten rid of a couple of dead pixels that way. The other way to try it is to use a program (as already suggested) that will flash random colors (RBG) on your screen. I’ve yet to get this to actually work but some have said it did work for their psp… so take it with a grain of salt.

Good luck!

I have a pixel that is stuck in bright green. Talk about annoying. I finally cut the very tip off the edge of a black sticker and put it over it. Having the black spot was better than the green one.

After one year of use none of them died on my LCD monitor. And they were all healthy when I bought them.

Haven't had a problem. i've heard that you can ask them to open the package at the store so you can see what you are buying. then refuse it if it's got dead pixels

The trick is to not notice them - if you see one close your eyes real quick and try to forgrt where it is.

Once you know where it is your fucked. Millions of pixels and thats the one you are going to spend the rest of your days staring at.

I bought one of my monitors used (a store display model) and the guy wanted me to buy the dead pixel warranty -- I didn't, and here four years later still no dead pixels. NECs are the best!!

notabook: interesting tips there -- I never knew you could stimulate a dead pixel via massage back into productivity. Interesting. Wish I could do that to my fucking camera which produces a number of dead pixels in our pics.

That's the 215TW right? I was thinking of getting that one but I really hate the speakers at the bottom.

Do you have backlight bleed with them? I hear that's very common for 225BW's.

theres 2 different issues. dead pixels and stuck pixels

a dead pixel is black and can be "rubbed out" =]
best to rub with a moist q-tip, only in that spot, power off and on the monitor while doing it. its a "liquid crystal display" and a dead pixel is dry. the gentle massage may fix it.

a stuck pixel is red/blue/green - for this the flashing color is suppose to work.. i find they mosty get re-stuck - google udpixel or jscreenfix

I saw 3 of these monitors and all of them had backlight bleeding. It's a crappy TN panel inside, it's great if you want to game and don't care about view angles at all.

Interesting, thank you. The one that bothers me is red. I'll try the damp q-tip trick tonight

Not sure why people are talking about viewing angles, and backlight issues. To test this I just set my wallpaper to black. There is 0 backlight showing at all. Period. I can view and read my monitor all the way from the side. The response time on these bad boys are 5ms. No dead pixels. Beautiful picture crystal clear. To call them crappy is laughable. I compared close to 20 monitors before I decided on these. I made 3 trips before I settled on these. They are simply gorgeous. Of course what would I know... I only own them and use them everyday lol.

I've been staring at a bright green pixel for the last couple weeks. After reading this thread I realized it was gone.

I shut the power off to this thing today for the first time in months...maybe that helped ;)

Found a good review on the 225bw

http://www.short-media.com/review.php?r=336&p=1

Their sample did have the backlight issue. Neither of mine do.

But they agreed with me on the viewing angles sharpness, and all around sexiness of these bad boys.
