what screen resolution do you use?

e.g:
1024x768, 1280x1024, 800x600 ?
and I don't mean when you are designing or testing your websites, because I 800x600 for that but for everything else I'm on 1024x768

How can you work at 1024x768?

I am at 3840x1200 and could do with more.

1024x768, always, even for designing purposes. With so many flatscreens around, a site optimized for 800x600 looks a bit "lost on screen"...

1280x1024 usually, any larger resolution starts to really fuck with my eyes.

1280/1024 is usual. But the problem some things on smaller resoluton looks bigger so you need to check your website with several resolutions before realase it.Or you can make various resolution subsites.

1024x768 on my desktop, some widescreen setting on my laptop.

Video card makes a tremendous difference, on my old desktop everything was too tiny for my eyes at 1024x768, using this same monitor.

This is going to be like those vodka threads in which we get to see who cares more about looking cool than what the stuff actually tastes like. At least for anyone building sites or pages, the only sensible answer has to be the screen resolution which is currently the most popular with surfers.

Sure you can check designs at lower resolutions afterwards, but unless something is totally borked, how many are going to go back and make minor changes?

I am at 1280x1024 coz its the optimal resolution for my 17" LCD monitor. At the beginning my eyes really hurt coz I was using 1024x768 for 5 years but now its ok.

The original poster said, "and I don't mean when you are designing or testing your websites"
And yes, I do go back and make minor changes if something doesn't look right for the majority of my surfers.

If you know what you're doing then you'll know what your site is gonna look like at different resolutions...without changing.

Makes me laugh when people switch into 800x600 because that's the target size of a website they're designing. You can still design a site for 800x600 when you screen resolution is [insert res here]. Why ruin your productivity by designing in a low resolution?

..it's a proven fact that more screen real estate = more productivity

Is your screen 60 inches? My 21" widescreen is capable of 1680X1050 but I find everything too small for me to view comfortably.
