free money never hurt anybody...usually prizes don't really get my attention but if you increase your payout considerably for a certain date range then I will give you a try...

I'm a fan of increased payouts myself... Also, a gift here and there never hurts.

I like the kind of promotion where the sponsor is looking at ways to convert and retain more of the traffic he already has. Making his sites better, making his affiliates, and himself, better off with the existing traffic.
Rather than just throwing more hits at the same sites in the hope that some of the increased traffic will help himself and possibly a few affiliates. Of course this is for some a tough route to take and it's easier and cheaper just to get another 200 affiliates submitting more galleries to the same TGP sites. |

I agree with you 100% on that. I'm no fucking guru, but it seems to me that retention is the only REAL way to make money. (DUH) You can play it however you want, but ultimately; keeping them around and happy and entertained is job#1. (to steal a line from some company who I can't remember the name of right now)
The problem is man, we've trained the surfer to fuck us over and I'm seeing firsthand how that is biting us in the ass. |

A good check in the mailbox is the best promotion.
Other than that, well... Posting contests and draws for big prizes. |

I will NEVER run a "posting" contest involving anything I'm in charge of. Thank you very much, but surfers get enough free shit. They arent getting JACK from me.
I'll give WEBMASTERS the fucking Moon if I can, but you WILL be a fucking affiliate before I give you a god damned thing. Take that however you want. This is business and I don't intend to make it STUPID business by giving money or a fucking X-box to some surfer running a bot so he can get post #701. Fuck that. |

better conversions is not something I see as a promo but more so a requirement for marketing the site the long run, it's the large short run payouts that grab webmasters attention and get them to try the program, the retention rate is really for the webmasters that stick around after the promo...

Rejoins. Was discussing this at dinner, hosted by Epoch thanks guys ![]() Very few of us sell anything so different from 100 other sites that we can really retain for a long time the majority of our traffic. The very nature of men when it comes to porn and sexual stimulation means "The Grass is Always Greener" mentality kicks in. Plus if we have a site that is so refined to make the surfer stay longer we lose over all appeal and traffic will drop. Yes conversions and retentions will rise, but on lower numbers. And the more refined we get the less appeal we have to the masses. So except your surfer will get bored and move on, at that point try to get him to move onto one of your sites or a partner site who is sending you sign ups. But make his stay at your site so good, keep adding new content and in 3 to 6 months plan on him coming back. The actual numbers this works with are very good. He might return from another partner link, a gallery he saw from another affiliate or just from a book mark. But get him to come back anyway you can. Was discussing with Epoch the possibility of tagging a member to see if it's his first time or a rejoin to a site. Sadly too many in this business think it's a one off join. Yet the magazine, DVD and cable porn industry is built on customer loyalty. But we think it's impossible. Who's got it wrong? |

very simple: good tours. (half of the sites out there have either crappy tours or unoptimised tours that take way too long to load for the average surfer).

REMINDER: Good affiliate programs don't need any promotion. Webmasters will go out of their way for a chance to prote it.

Solid program based on solid sites run by solid people. Great looking sites with hot content that converts well and steady paychecks.
I don't need (or want) prizes, t-shirts, "bonus" days or some over anxious - under experienced sales rep calling or emailing me to talk. Just sign me up, let me send sales, pay me and shut the fuck up ![]() ![]() I don't really like when a program will have reps that act like assholes at shows (only been to one back in '97 and I'll never go again thanks to that kind of behavior) or on the boards.. I like a program that represents itself as a solid company and all members are on board with that - treating people with respect and acting like they care if they make money or not. ![]()

"Just add traffic" types of webmaster tools.
Also, content that is actually TAILORED to an affiliate's particular traffic blend. |

If you do a rewards type system, make it achievable. I hate the programs that boast a rewards program that you need to make 10 sales a day for 4 years to get an alarm clock.

$X Bonus after the first Y sales.
say $250 after 5 sales or something.. makes the PPS temporarily higher, or makes a nice bonus PPS if you're a revshare-only program.

hm.. i was referring to attracting new affiliates, to get them to try you.
as far as the long-term, the only thing that gets my attention is high PPS. keep your prizes.
