Why should there be one rule for AFF and one for the other programs?
It's okay to rob people, as long as the competition is doing it too. Gotcha.

As there are no laws to protect AFF in these situations then they have to protect themselves.

If someone came to your house and took your TV and the police wouldn't do anything about it, wouldn't you be justified in taking it back yourself - or do think that would be "stealing" it back?

is anyone shocked by this?

these are the guys that allow traffic from password trading sites, warez sites, anything and everything.

if you go to basically any shady site on the internet that has banners, they're ALL for AFF.

well i guess for affiliates to compete then we better all start bidding on keywords with zango and other adware companies.

Any company doing business with Zango (or any other spyware company) deserves to be exposed for the bunch of thieves they are.

The thing is that the traffic isn't theirs yet. It belongs to the affiliate that worked hard to get it. Affiliates shouldn't have to take a hit because sponsors are fighting amongst themselves.

my issue isnt with the fact that they were bidding on the words. i completely see their reasoning behind that, as a business.

i dont, however, like being called sheep when the company gets called out on it. the people bitching have EVERY RIGHT to be upset, and are actually the exact opposite of sheep.

keeping with the barnyard theme....if the affiliates on this forum are sheep, lars' job is to be the shepherd. to guide them in the direction that his company wants them to go (continue to send AFF traffic). that's all he's doing here, he just has the nerve to actually come out and call everyone sheep.

he's just doing damage control because they got caught and issued a horrible public stance on the whole situation. the sad part is that, if anyone has the resources to fight these people, it's someone the size of AFF. rather than stand up for its affiliates and do what it can, it bends to zango and gives a generic apology to its affiliates.

thats just sad.

There are no ez solutions - and thats why everyone is so pissed off.

I do however think it is unfair to lay the blame solely at AFF's feet - they are just playing the game the same as everyone else. Kill or be killed.

For once I agree with you. This is not just AFF. It is all the sponsors supporting spyware and browser hijackers.

In this thread, Lars just happened to be in the mood to insult and piss on affiliates in regards to spyware. That is why he is being focussed on again.

sure but its the affiliate who is really getting slaughted from both sides. i'd like to see a lot more threads of people going after sex search and other companies who are buying as well. someone should install the most popular scumware apps and see what comes up, make a list and publish it on gfy.

the solution is to make zango an unprofitable business method. the only way i can see that happening is by not giving them any pages to pop from. like i said before, we need major mainstream and adult sites to block all traffic that has zango and all the other popular adware apps installed, people buying words will see results dwindle and hopefully will be forced to stop buying from them.

the best threads ever by a sponsor.

- they jack your traffic and are unapologetic about it.
- they tell you that you are just too dumb to understand anything anyway
- then its capped off with remarks that basically say "hey man, we do it.. so what? netflix does it. and we pay out more than anyone else so as long as you work with us and no one else, you will benefit" (which is pretty much a vailed threat of extortion)

what ever happened to the good old days where sponsors stole, got busted and just denied it and dissapeared until the dust settled? what ever happened to the ever popular "it was a rogue employee" defense?

times are a changin'

The same double-talk as that response it took you a week to get around to... now "sheep" apparently applies to anyone who is p*ssed that you might not only divert (or allow to be diverted) traffic they try to send to other sponsors, but even the traffic they intend for you.

Call it theft. Don't call it theft. Please yourself, because the result is the same: it's a scam and it is pathetic that someone in your position wants anything to do with it. If that makes me a sheep, I couldn't care less.

Right.... If you want to talk about sheep. Maybe you should talk to the people that actually believe your BS.

You even admitted that you buy traffic from ad-ware companies which was blatantly pointed out to you that these companies are causing theft of sales from affiliates. You seem to see no wrong with it because isn't illegal "yet".

You even went as far as to say you will continue to to buy traffic from them and fucking your affiliates.. Because "you're forced to.

Yea yea go ahead and toss some money around and throw a big party.. because to the real sheep you're a stand up guy. I say go fuck your self and the horse you rode in on.

Wow this thread is amazing. Lars rips off the entire adult community and tries to justify his actions by saying he pays more than all the other sponsors.? Then some affiliates buy his crap and line up like good little sheep to follow their mentor...hahahaha Only on gfy would you find this caliber of entertainment.

So AFF won't mind if I start bidding on their URL? This "all's fair" approach is a double-edged sword, you know.

Lars' approach is that it's okay to bid on Zango because it's only 0.5% of traffic, and he makes up for it in higher payouts.

I don't promote AFF or Cams.com. I do promote other sponsors though. Ones he might be bidding on. So is he going to send me higher payouts for them, too?

No, he's not. So I should just start bidding on HIS URL's to even things out.

After all, it's only 0.5%.

Does Lars get you out of the cupboard and wind you up every time he needs a tame poster?

SPIN #1: unfair to lay the blame solely at AFF's feet
No-one is laying the blame solely at AFF's feet: don't forget cams.com too, along with several others who have been similarly "caught". Come to that, Smokey started a new thread today and if memory serves, neither the title nor his original post even mention Lars' businesses.

Anyway, do you seriously expect balance on a board which Lars often uses as his personal "marketing" tool, particularly since he now also uses it to post a blatant "GFY" to everyone here... you included by the way, assuming you send any traffic to dating or cams sites.

SPIN #2: they are just playing the game the same as everyone else
Everyone else is not playing this "game", even if you are foolish enough to think this is a game. It's the same sponsors who are always close by when anything smells bad and plenty have come out and said they do not support these activities, nor will tolerate them from their affiliates.

I may reserve judgement on just how active some will be in tracking down offenders, but the message at least is diametrically opposed to what Lars finally got his thumb out of his ass to deliver.

The majority of the 'drama' has been centered around AFF/Cams.com/Lars - why? because he was the one who came to the board and told the truth (whether you agree with him or not). The other programs that should have done the same didn't - So Lars made himself a target... Foolish? Maybe, maybe not.

Not quite. I am an affiliate and I'm getting ripped off, so my point of view is entirely predictable. You however present yourself as an affiliate, yet your sole purpose appears to be to pop up and defend the very sponsor who appears, whether directly or indirectly, to be most deeply involved in this issue. Such an obvious paradox inevitably makes one question exactly whose point of view you are putting across.

Until you are honest about your motives for posting as you do, you have nothing worth reading.

You can believe what you want, but I for one doesn't believe even for a second that Lars would have come forward if AFF hadn't already been outed by Zango. And when he finally did reply, all he said was that they indeed were/are stealing from affiliate marketers and that that isn't about to stop.

It's less than 0.5%. Factor in that only about 10%, if that, actually click on the pop up and NOT close it. So given those numbers we are talking about 0.05%. Now let's factor in the amount of traffic let's say an average affiliate sends to the total traffic. Probably less than 1%. So that number comes close to 0.0005%. So if you are making $500/year you might lose 25 cents for that year!! If these numbers don't look right please discuss them.

So if you are making $500/year you might lose 25 cents for that year!! If these numbers don't look right please discuss them.
Try thinking about it this way.. The same surfers that don't know how to remove spyware or close popups are the same surfers that don't know how to get free porn online. They are probably much much much more likely to buy.

Earlier on you made a thread about the shady practices of program owners, then you come into this thread trying to distract attention from the shady practice of a program owner. Things that make you go hmmmmm.

Anyway, you haven't quite got the PR pull you once had. That spat you had with Ramos had him come off better, as wrong as that might be.

True. There is a VERY Bold statement at the bottom of the pop ups that tell you where they are coming from and how to remove them. But do you mean they are more likely to click the pop up? I would assume you would get less than 10% of the popups actually clicked on bringing you close to the numbers I posted above.

Well, if you are as dumb enough to not know how to uninstall zango when it clearly states it on the popup it would be more like you leaving your door open with all your possesions on your sidewalk and I walk by and take 2 pennys out of your penny jar ;)

I'm not so sure you can believe Zango when they tell you that the program will be uninstalled using their uninstall procedures. I've heard numerous stories about it being nearly impossible to remove when it has been installed for a while..
GG & Jim has set up this page to help users remove it :http://adwaresucks.com/zango/
Sure most of us could follow those instructions, but what about the surfer that just got his first 'puter at Walmart and doesn't know anything about computers at all.. All that surfer want is to pay for porn and I want to be the one to sell it to him. G'dammit..

The popup has a link to instructions to uninstall. The process tells you to go to add/remove programs and click uninstall Zango. That's it. Now Zango is a BIG adware company under a TON of scrutany. They have had their days in court. They follow the law and I am sure they don't leave anything hidden behind after an uninstall. People should be concerned about the malicious spyware out there. Zango is doesn't even come close to the bad that's out there.

Every webmaster with a clue knows those stats are distorted due to the number of webmasters that have the alexa toolbar installed..............

Alexa shows signups now? Amazing technology they have...

BTW have you noticed that you and the other morons who want us to pretend that those associated with scumware aren't thieves, have been doing a wonderful job of keeping some of these threads alive?
