![]() My Father in Law uses Verizon and he needs a new phone. he just picked up the Acura RL and his old phone has no Bluetooth so i want to buy him one for Christmas. Do they use a SIM card so i can just buy the phone or do i have to bring him and get the # and all switched over??
I Figured someone here would know. |

Nope. No sim card for Verizon, Sprint, and a few others. They are CDMA carriers, which also means you can't buy an unlocked phone.
Cingular and T-Mobile are the two big GSM networks. You can still port the number from carrier to carrier. I recently moved from Verizon (no sim) to Cingular and got to keep my number. But you'll need to get him a Verizon phone, since they're basically locked to their own network.

I think I just saw something on my Verizon account that implied I could upload my stuff to a website, then from there to my phone.
It is my secondary phone, so wasn't paying a lot of attention. BTW, could you ask Ray to contact me please? |
