Philly Bound...Need Suggestions on Things to Do!

I'm flying into Philly on Friday for the weekend!

We'll be staying with modF (Woohoo!) and going to the 1:00 Eagles game on Sunday (FUCK YEAH!!!)...after the game we are staying in Philly and want to see some of the sights. We got a hotel near South Street and all the bars but I do want to see some of the metro area. I've never been in the City before so I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for :

Best sights to see in the Metro area
Best places to eat for our Anniversary dinner - nice resturaunts.
Best bars/clubs to hit after before we stumble back to our hotel and make whoopie

Would love to hear from those of you that have been there.

Thanks!

I can't fully comment on Philly bars since I'm not 21, but I do know that there are tons of nice restaurants in Old City as well as many bars there. Morimoto is one of the best restaurants in Philly - I don't know if you watch Iron Chef America on the Food Network but he's one of the Iron Chef's there.

South Street is more of a tour during the day thing than a bar area (although there a few notable ones there). For site seeing during the day, Rittenhouse Square is nice and you can go to Ben Franklin Parkway area for museums. Philly Art Museum sucks but both the Franklin Institute (science stuff) as well as the Mutter Museum (strange deformities) are cool.

Oh, and you can always grab a cheesesteak but Pat's and Geno's are nothing compared to mom and pop places all around the city and the suburbs.

Hope this helps.

Yep, can't leave Philly without trying a Pat's cheese steak. Just ask around once you get here. Everyone knows where Pat's is.

Philadelphian here

Depending on what your into ....

1. Olde City - Tons of historical stuff all within a few blocks walking about from 3rd and market all the way to about 7th and market street. Ben Franklin's place, constitution center, liberty bell, congress hall ....

2. Reading market terminal - TONS of stuff of eat and check out quaint little stalls - also near 11th and market.

3. Bars / clubs - Check out 2nd and market area at night: Tons of places all in a matter of blocks headed south down 2nd street ( nick's upstairs, Taste of cuba, etc ) Its the beautiful people and beyond at some places.

4. Delaware avenue - somewhat generic clubs ..... low rollers mostly

5. Food: Pat's is the place for steaks if you ask me, but try out pats and geno's -- they are across the street from each other.

alzo - you can ping me on icq 160541645 if you wanna talk specifics as to shit to do in the area as well

Herb and viki, just the type of info I'm looking for
Thank you so much you guys!!! THIS IS AWESOME!
I saw pics of moromito on gophila.com - awesome atmosphere. We just might end up there for our special dinner.

I think I might get one cheesesteak from genos and another from pats and have a few bites of each just cause I can haha

This rocks!

Also -- Sunday: The art museum is just about free ( you have to make a $1 donation or something more if you want ) ...its has a really fine exhibit of medievel armor.

There is a fool proof way to spot tourists there at the Art Museum... They are the ones running up and acting like Rocky. You can also take a nice stroll along Kelly drive there behind the musuem...... Boathouse row, etc.

If you get out towards the Art Museum - check out a place at 25th street called brigid's: http://www.bridgids.com/

The food is UNREAL and the price is very nice. Awesome ambiance for a romantic dinner with a mellow crowd. Me and the wife go there at least 2x a month.

not sure if you're looking for touristy stuff... but ... the liberty bell takes less than 20 minutes. idependence hall is right there. i thought both were kinda cool to see.

the shopping is great anywhere on the east coast...
