yes but missie you are missing the point Zango does not send out the popup because of this script. The script does not block the popup, Zango decide not to send it

I DO understand what you're saying.

Zango may decide not to SHOW an ad, but what about zango advertisers that chose NOT to in the first place? The iframe is NOT a popup, it's totally invisible to the surfer. Is that considered a popup? I wouldn't think so. There could be a dozen ads from other adware on the same page but zango does NOT have to pop its own ad, it can stuff cookies with an invisible iframe.

We need someone who has or had a zango account to tell us how it works.

Tampa... you're the closest thing we have. If you have an account, spill the beans.

Ok, if cookies were not overwritten, your script works. For now. Check often because guaranteed zango will find ways around it. If they don't already have a solution for it. They're a lot more proactive than reactive and they have solutions to problems that don't even exist yet or no one has thought of.

By preventing the pop in the first place, it also seems to work against sites that track sales by url not cookie

The fact that the ad doesn't pop up means NOTHING with zango. I don't know how the backend works for zango advetisers or how "ethical" zango is in its own sick ways, but even if the ad doesn't get shown because of another popup doesn't mean the advertiser doesn't get charged for the "click" or impression, or that the cookie didn't get overwritten anyway.

I don't mean to be negative about your solution, hell the more solutions people can come up with the better as far as I'm concerned. The more you give these scums to work around... I just don't want anyone to think the problem is solved when the truth could be that the problem just became invisible due to no popup ads.

Missie
OK maybe I'm being stupid here, BUT.

Would it only make a difference if the over written cookie was on the site the surfer was going to?

Say someone bought the word TEENS, the surfer landed on my page and the pop up was blocked, it would not make much point to over writing a cookie that did not relate to my site.

Or is Zango all about stealing surfer to me by another of my affiliates. Or me?

Can someone check my paysite please. Well all the sites would be nice.

the popup is not blocker by the popup blocker the only popup that is blocked is the one from google.com but as zango only popup on pages with no popups and never popup on google their software is tricked into thinking that the user has already had a popup so it decides not to send one I think what missie was trying to say was did it affect your cookies in any way answear was no. I am pretty sure you will get zango popups on the domain
www.paulmarkhamteens.com not sure about the others also I think zango extracts info from the meta of pages too but I am not entirely sure

Sorry, but that's not true. Zango will pop anywhere over any site from any source if the keywords or URL's are targeted, INCLUDING Google SERPS and Adwords and ALL other search engines as well.

Unless you meant google.com/ca/uk/au/etc.?

Will talk to my programmers about putting up your script, I don't see a problem at the moment with any affiliate leaping up in sign ups over the other affiliates loss and do not see sign ups suffering. But anything to stop this is good IMhumbleO.

Thanks for that. Don't see any problem from Discovery Card when someone is about to join a porn site. Best to snuff it out before it becomes a problem.

If you think porn is bad for this stuff, you should try mainstream! Now THAT is fun. Only a handful allow adult ads but they all allow "clean" ads.

Yeah it seems deeply embedded in mainstream from what I've seen.

It's quite funny what comes up especially in the toolbar tabs. Even if all adult sponsors were removed from Zango, I'm sure some of our surfers would still get distracted or annoyed enough to close all windows thinking the pop was from our site and we would lose the sale that way, rather than to another Adult sponsor.
