Credit card processing for Canadians?

Looking for a replacement for Paymonde for my content store.

I'm in Canada and my only US presence is a checking account.

None of the processors are gonna help you.

They are all gonna tell you to incorporate in the US/EU or get a presence somewhere else for the pleasure of giving them your business. The only one willing to help is Verotel.

Canadian business just isn't important to any of the others.

I believe they do, yes.

Also guys, I am working with one of the banks to process adult transactions for my network in Canada - keep in touch and I will let everyone know my progress.

Careful with your tone there. IPSP's have nothing against Canadian business, trust me. The rules in place are enforced by the card associations. Violation of the rules is called cross border acquiring.

Until there is an MCC of "Internet" or the financial institutions catch up with the 21st century we're going to have problems like this. Really, don't EVEN get me started.

If you want to find out more about how to incorporate in the US, drop us a line.

Yeah, right. Like we don't all want as much business as we can write.

However, Visa and Mastercard make the rules. Right now the rules say if you are using a CAD company to process transactions in high risk, you are out of compliance, one way or another.

In case you haven't noticed, the card associations don't take kindly to out of compliance situations, they tend to terminate the relationships.

I would suggest you follow Kimmy and Rand's advice. Incorporating in the EU or US is the way to go. Unfortunately for smaller webmasters in countries not allowed for X reasons by Visa & MC, they are just going to have to pay that $750 to $3500 to get ur business set up Including bank accounts, deposits... etc

besides incorporating in the regions (which is a must) you will be hard pressed to find a third party that is currently supporting the shopping cart architecture.... do you have your own cart? or is it one time downloads?

so you have a double quandry....

I'm using a custom cart and can have a plug-in written for any processor's API. The trick is finding someone that will process for Canadians. Paymonde was it as far as I know.

My apologies if I sounded disrespectful. I have been frustrated to no end with all this. There has just got to be a way around it without having to find a US principal (trust being a major issue for this for obvious reasons) and/or incorporating there (creating an accounting and paperwork nightmare for me), or doing the same in the EU. I don't want to be filing tax forms twice every time I do it.
Obviously some are doing it. There is a solution somewhere.

I'm going to look at Moneris and report back. Apparently they really make you jump through hoops but they have accepted some adult high risk.

if you cant afford to secure proper processing -- whatever that may entail: entities, bank accounts, high risk registration fees, etc -- you cant afford to be in business in the first place.

Some of these small timers need to take themselves a little more seriously and build payment processing costs into their business model, and if it's not profitable, they can always go back to working at wendys.
