Usually rebills are based on member, not on credit card, or am I wrong?

Rebills continue... or else all those "seen on tv" ads selling late night crap.. would be buying everything on the last month of the card and then fucking off afterwards -- but that doesn't happen, because rebills continue.

Rebill probably expires, new card has a different CVV, and so many billers wouldn't be able to bill that new card...

most places need you to update the expiry date for them to bill ya... all my hosts billing area have an area to update expiry dates of the card... which let me to wonder if an old rebilling purchase with old expiry date ...will still go thru even tho the info was from 2 years ago (old card).

CVV isn't stored and makes no difference on rebills.

Rebills will continue as long as the processor submits the transaction.

Re-bills cannot continue without the card holder giving new card expire date.

ccbill has successfully rebilled a card of mine with details that had expired. I was told if it fails with a particular error, they add 2 years to the date and try again.

Yes they can !

V/MC/Amex have programs to get the updated card info
without the customers involvement if the merchant signs up for it.

The transaction numbers have to be pretty high volume but it
saves millions !

Not sure how big a differens there is from country to country on this. I would say that rebills can`t continue. true, even with a new card you still get the same account number, but the card number changes. And it is that all billers use. New card = new cc number and no more rebill from what i know.

But way to many different answer here, will write ccbill and ask for sure to be 100% clear on this.

"idiot" is the most used word here. Wonder why?

NOTE: The is no middle answer. When a CC expires the Rebills stop.

Care to explain ccbill rebilling my CC account when I'd been issued with a new expiry and CVV2?

from my experience if you have your own merchant you can try and run a cc without a cvv2 number and just add a couple years to the date and it will go thru.

The expiration date changes, which makes some of the information stored invalid..

If they process the card upon rebilling, it won't be approved...

Been there..

Unless they pay no attention to the exp. date... which would be dangerous..

In most cases, when a new card is issued with a new expiry date, an "issuer decline" code should come back from the bank.

We started to use CCBill as a backup processor for StatsRemote in January 2004 and still have quite a few active rebills from that time, so I guess as long as your credit card number doesn't change, the rebills will go through.

From my knowledge, the expired card is first declined by the biller, but usually a credit is issued. As soon as the guy updates his credit card information, the rebill cycle continues and you get the negative credit back, plus future rebills. If the member doesn't update his cc data, bad luck.

It's funny this question should be asked. I was double checking Lightspeed Cash to see what my percentage cut was and I came across this information:

Code:
LONG-TERM LOYALTY BONUS!

We have implemented a new system at LightspeedCash that takes RevShare to
the next level!

The Problem:
Alot of members have rebilling issues. They want to rebill, but their card
is expired or over its limit. So their membership ends until they can
correct the problem. When they come back, they join again as a TYPEIN, and
the original affiliate is paid NOTHING!

The LightspeedCash Solution:
We've implemented a database-driven system that indentifies these returning
members and RECONNECTS them to the ORIGINAL affiliate. It's like you own
that member for LIFE!

The Catch:
We will activate this feature only for affiliates who have sent at least one
join within the last 6 months. If you want a long-term commitment from us,
we should be able to expect a long-term commitment from you too, right?

That's what I call a FAIR DEAL, another win/win from LightspeedCash!
It would be interesting to know if their system beats the rest.
