Anyone use nutri systems?

I had a friend lose 35 lbs without going to the gym, and just by eating the planned food.

Anyone here have results?

I lost almost 40 pounds on it last year and want to get back on it (I gained 20 back). I was extremely strict on myself - no alcohol and working out a few times a week. I didn't cheat once. It teaches you to eat in moderation and what real portion sizes are. Some of the foods taste bland, so I added Frank's red hot sauce in almost everything. If you have any questions about it, let me know!

How long were you on it before you lost 40 lbs?

You are better off learning to cook a little and preparing your own food most of the time instead of getting pre-made meals from any weight loss program. If you learn a bit about counting calories and about protein, carb and fat ratios, and eat a sensible diet- including better choices not just smaller portion sizes- AND if you exercise regularly and learn to enjoy it, one can lose weight and keep it off instead of bouncing back up like most people do. Just going on a pre-made diet like this for x number of months will teach you very little.

I found the key to lose weight and more importantly fat loss, was all this below combined. That's the shortcut for anyone that wants it.

1- Count calories, figure your daily maintenance and eat just below maintenance
2- Weightlifting 3-4 times per week
3- A very- or at least fairly- clean diet, 5-6 smallish meals per day, no drinks with calories period, and forget diet soda too on principal.
4- 2-3 sessions of 30 mins of cardio per week until you sweat very good.

Years ago (around 1986-1987) i lost a good 70+ pounds with Nutri-System. I played a lot of tennis at the time and was pretty active and I think they had me capped at 1200 calories a day. Wasn't too hard to keep on the diet and when I went off it it was easy to maintain my weight. In fact, I went from 296# all the way down to 180#. I was motivated back then even when I came off their plan losing another 46#.

About 5 months. I gained 20 pounds back because I didn't take what I learned in portion control and drank way too many bottles of wine.

Weight Watchers is still best - teaches you to live a healthy life, not just jump on a diet for a period of time

Interesting posts in here.

My problem is I HATE to cook. When I do eat at home it's always microwavable foods. Then after that is portion size. I'm a pig. lol

I actually like cooking, but most of the time - it's just me and I don't want to cook just for myself, so these meals are perfect. You do have to buy some extra items like lettuce, cheese, etc. If you want a $30 off coupon, let me know.

I did nutri system 7 years ago. The food was AWFUL. Of course, I am used to eating gourmet style meals, organic meats, veggies etc, I guess for the McDonalds crew nutri system would be a step up and a great way to lose weight but for me it just sucked and I ended up giving all the food away to other people.

just cut down, try eating wholewheat pasta for your evening meal, you dont need a lot cuz pasta fills you up, its really cheap and it will defo help you lose the weight (providing you dont cover it in a million rich sauces snd cheese topped of with bread lol)

used to work for me when i wanted to lose weight.

just eat less, don't finish your plate ever, leave 1 or 2 bites, hard to do but very rewarding, no need to change your food habits.

Obviously you can't compare it to gourmet meals - but that's how you got where you are at weight wise.

The food can be bland - but it works. They are always updating their recipes and some of it is actually decent.
