I have been an off and on smoker pack a day for 5 years now. The reason why I smoke is because it cuts off my sexual desires so I can get work done. Also my biggest problem is I have never gone to a club or bar in my life with out smoking. Mentally I think the thing with smoking is your cigs become your best friend that you can depend on when you need it and you fear loosing your best friend forever. Anyway good luck.

Then it's a good time to quit drinking too!

The secret to success is actually wanting to quit. If you don't really want to quit, nothing you do will help.

I quit smoking a different way. I had read that smoking has a lot to do with your mind being conditioned to smoking and to quit, you recondition it as a non-smoker. So every day for about 3 months I told myself that I was quitting on New Years Eve, and would never smoke again. This helped reinforce and condition my mind that this was going to happen.
New Years Eve I smoked my last cigarette, put on a patch and went to bed. I woke up in the morning, decided I did not want to use the patch, I was a non-smoker, and would rather go through hell a few days and get it over with. Hell never came, when I got the urge to smoke I would eat a couple of pretzels and I have never smoked again. It was SO EASY. I smoked for probably 20 years, I smoked more than a pack a day, and just telling myself for 3 months I was quitting was enough to convince me I was a non-smoker. |
