Question about gallery designs....

Hi all.

I do some graphic design stuff in my spare time (banners, headers, logos etc). I've been lurking these boards for a while trying to get the low-down on a couple different aspects of the porn industry.

My question to you is when you get a gallery page designed for you, how do you like to accept it? Is the entire design done in something like fireworks/photoshop and you are simply sent the original work file which you export to html and add your pictures? Or do you send the person the pics and they entirely create the design for you.

Basically I've never created a gallery before, but I'd like to know what the industry standard is (so I can get right to work and start producing some).

Thanks!
S.M

I generally provide the client with an html file & images folder. I cut it up, export it, then clean up the html & send it to them to add their thumbs.

different clients require slightly different details though so do what you can and charge accordingly.

;-)

What is the initial image created in? Photoshop, Fireworks?

Actually I'd really appreciate it if someone could hook me up with an example of a gallery (ie. editable photoshop/fireworks file, and also the export html files).

This way I can get a better understanding of how they are made, and that way I can get right to work on creating my own.

Thanks!

If you need to ask your not ready.
The one questions all cilents should ask any designer is how many galleries a day do you submit. If they cant make money from submitting galleries why in fuck would you buy a design from them?

You have obviously misinterpreted my question. I am asking HOW webmasters like to receive gallery layouts. Since I've never actually made a gallery for someone in the adult industry, I'm not exactly certain as to how to go about making one (ie. editable photoshop or fireworks files, or simply just a html files and assume that they have the skills to embed their own thumbnails).

Ignoring these comments, I'd appreciate it if someone could help me out by providing an EXAMPLE of how galleries are to be made.

Some people just tell you 15 thumbs at 150*113 etc or others want the thumbs and pics done and delivered complete.

Pick a gallery you like the look of, screencap it and try to recreate it in photoshop or fireworks, (which ever you prefer) use it as your background image, then place your info over the top, stick everything on different levels, so you can move things about easily.

There is no need to do all the thumb work in the actual design, just leave appropriately sized spaces for the thumbs.

Personally I take elements of a gallery and do my editing in dreamweaver, I don't like wasting filesize on backgrounds.

So you may find it easier to create a header and footer, stick them in an html editor and add the thumbs and middle text etc.

Interesting but with the cost of partners accounts, hosting and general grief, I'd rather take my 60k a year designing gals with no hassles and pure profit.

I don't submit galleries ... I design them to my clients specs.

Its not that I don't agree with your point, but I just don't submit galleries & I don't think it makes my galleries any less effective.
