BREAKING NEWS: XMRadio merges with Sirius radio?

This is what a little birdie told me!

Anyone hear about it? If this is the case... then my Sirius radio website traffic for sale should perform even better

A little birdie? CNN.com told me yesterday. Now lets see if the FCC allows the two to merge, this is going to get very sticky I do believe.

Your little birdie must not have been well fed because the media has been all over this since yesterday, and really since end of last week.

The FCC will likely allow the merger, only because both sides have been losing money out their asses since this started. However, I think that the FCC would probably require that one or the other gives up it's birds to a third party at some point in the future to create competition.

It could happen. they have to prove it is best for the people. or some shit like that. But now maybe my stock price will go up some, and I can sell.

I was wondering when this was going to happen. It seems only logical that the two merge as there is no room for competition for paid radio in my opinion. When you look at cable vs satalite tv, you are basically being offered the same programming, you are just receiving it through a different channel. It really surprised me when they started putting satalite radio in cars bc who would want to pay a monthly fee for radio and only get half the programming that they wanted. Not to mention the fact that in most cases you couldn't choose which provider you wanted. I always felt that there were a few good programs and channels out there that are selling the service for either provider, but as a whole package it is not all that desireable. Consider that by now many people have invested in an ipod or some other mp3 player and is walking around with the music that they want to listen to and you can change up that music for free whenever you want to. So why would you want or even have a need for the music channels when you have to pay a monthly fee for it? anyways, the bottom line is that I think this is a good thing for them and is probably the only way satalite radio is going to survive for much longer if they continue to charge a monthly fee for their service.

The programming between Satelite radio and standard FM/AM radio is quite different. Bottom line, Ive had Sirius for almost a year now and I will keep it. Better programs, better music, and even though its not on demand like an IPOD would be, I hear things I probably wouldnt have or even thought about. I also have a choice of tons of music to choose from and of course my personal favorite, Howard Stern. (Also get NFL channels!). Sorry, but if your in the car for more than an hour a day, Sirius is well worth it.
