Help, my sleeping schedule is all messed up
It's 6:22 am and I'm still fully awake. My schedule is so screwed, I slept at like 11 in the MORNING yesterday, and woke up at 7pm at NIGHT. How do I get back on track?
I'm too weak to just not go to sleep and try and stay up all day so I can get back on track. My body just gives up and I end up falling asleep anyways when I try and do this. I hope someone knows what I mean... I mean when I try and pull an "all-nighter" although it's not technically an "all-nighter" since it's daytime. I mean not sleeping in order for my schedule to get back on track again.... |

Any tips on how to get back on track? Should I just take some melatonin and put my alarm for like 12 in the afternoon? I'll only get 5 hrs of sleep but at least I'll get to see sunlight.

Yeah, I'm also fucked up.
Basically, you have to suffer and don't go to sleep. When you think you're going to give in, you have to get out of being still. Get up, do the dishes, go outside. Do something, otherwise you're screwed. Another effective way to get back on track is to get seriously hammered in the afternoon and go to bed at around 10:00 pm.

Welcome to the club. I went to sleep yesterday at 1pm and woke up at 7pm. Right now it's almost 10am here.
It's takes 3 or 4 days to get back to schedule by staying up later and later each day, but only 1 day to totally screw you up again.

I know what You mean..
Try this: 1: Set it straight over a period of a week or two, simply cut back 30-60 minutes on the bedtime Your'e used to, every day. 2: For more effect; avoid sugared things (soda, and Coca Cola especially), coffee and tea, at least for the last 4-5 hours before bedtime. It's always worked great for me in such situations ![]()

What caused your sleep time to slip in the first place? I find that occasionally I really get into something, then suddenly it's 6am, and for the next week my sleep schedule is stuffed. Having a noisy 19 year old daughter doesn't help since she's usually busy squealing from the time she gets up to the time she leaves (sometimes up to an hour)

![]() ![]() ![]() I hear you. It happens to me too. However, I manage to get over it just by going out to do errands and move around.

To help get your sleep cycle back on track, in the morning hours right after sunrise, go outside in shorts and expose the back of your knees (a.k.a knee-pits) to direct sunlight for about 5 minutes. This helps reset your clock and tells your body that it is morning. Repeat each day until you are back on track.

For me, going outside or to the gym (although I hate it) works. The problem is that you don't really get tired if you are sitting all day, especially if you drink coffee or smoke (like I do).
