One of my neighbors just got a cigarette boat, and ...

... he just fired the thing up. In my house, it sounded like the world was ending.

He went past the house at a slow speed, and it was louder than the music I had on.

His wake was high enough to lap up against my dock, and he was pretty far out on the lake when he opened it up a bit more.

It took me writing this entire post for the water to calm back down out there.

Holy crap. Just wanted to share.

It's 35 miles long in total, with 350 miles of coastline, and where my house is, it's about a mile wide.

He just went by a lot faster, shit, the water in front of my deck is completely filled with the ripples from his wake.

No doubt about it. Someone was idling one (and probably getting 0.00001 miles to the gallon) past the house the other day. It might be time to go shopping .. ruh roh!

Unfortunately, the camera is charging for a trip I'm taking Wednesday. I'll have to keep it by one of the doors from now on -- I've seen some breath-taking sunsets lately, and haven't been able to find it quickly.

Sounds like a blast. I was fishing from the dock earlier, maybe I can flag him down next time he shakes the world going by.

Ha! Well, if he can afford the six-figure boat and the multi-million dollar house, I'm assuming he doesn't have the mullet going on. If he does, though, he won't be any friend of MINE! Sport jackets are about the MOST dressed up anyone's likely to get down here .. but if I spot him in a white one with a powder blue shirt, you know I'll be snapping pics.

Luckily, in all seriousness, the price of the lake keeps all but former Yankees (like myself, I just moved here last month) away. You only deal with the "good ol' boys" if you venture away from the lake, into one of the towns. The town I'm "technically" a part of (mail stop-wise) has 115 people, according to Wikipedia. It's a 15 minute ride, though.

there's a couple of those on Candlewood and there's always been one or two on the lakes I've lived or skied on. I can't freakin' stand them.

IMHO...if they're any louder than the average ski boat, they shouldn't be on a lake. Between the noise pollution above the water and the damage they do to the fish below, they're just an excuse for some guy to ride around screaming

!!!! LOOK AT ME !!!!

Haha! Well said.

Do you mean Candlewood, up by where I used to live? It's even worse now, if that's the case ... I saw some yachts before I moved ... then again, I guess it's the pot calling the kettle black, with how I tool around THIS lake, lol. But you get my drift, I'm sure.

Ya, that Candlewood.

I saw a guy there last summer in a 75' yacht tooling around the lake with a bunch of NYC schnizzle in bikinis. It took a few minutes to realize that it was JayZ.

We rolled over to him and he actually remembered me from getting drunk together with my ex-girlfriends and a bunch of girls that used to work for me in Atlanta. Spent a great day tooling around with him. I ragged on him about his retardedly large boat on the lake and even HE made the point that "at least it's not one of those goddamned cigarette boats".

Oh man, that's classic! Yeah, you definitely get some funny looks when you have the big boats out on the lake. I find it fairly obnoxious, but I just enjoy having something large enough to sleep in .. it's not a dick-waving contest.

For sure. He's got dual outboards (454's, someone said, if that means anything -- it doesn't, to me), and it's really loud.

I just moved from frigid Connecticut to Lake Gaston, on the NC and VA border.

This is looking LEFT from my house ...
