MacBook Pro Users: Glossy Screen?
I'm already a hardcore mac user.... but i'm looking to buy a new MacBook Pro
My only question is, i'm looking at all the options, and I see they have a "Widescreen Glossy Display" compared to the normal "Widescreen Display" at no addtl' charge. They claim the glossy display shows everything at a better contrast level. Has anyone has any experience with the glossy display, are there any downsides? |

It makes photo's look so much nicer.. The downside is that's it more reflective..

Stick with the Matte version...
![]() All kidding aside, after flat panel LCD monitors started coming out, I continued using my trusty old 21" CRTs. When I finally broke down and bought some flat screen monitors I was surprised how different the photos I was posting looked. CRT looks way better, crisper picture, better resolution, but that doesn't matter, because they are becoming scarce fast, and soon only flat panels will be all that is available at an affordable price (and even that doesn't matter, since the market is dictating that content must meet their standard, even if the new standard is inferior - see wax records versus CDs/MP3s). If you are a producer, you have to adapt to the market. Now I have to edit photos on a flat screen, and compensate for the weaknesses in the technology, in order to ensure consumer satisfaction. Many have already migrated to HD, I'm already heading in that direction with my next purchases. You have to either master the wave or be drowned by it. ADG Webmaster |

I have both and the matte is much better. Glossy can be irritating, and I don't notice any difference in contrast.
