Batch image rez reduction (but not file dimensions)??
Is there a tool out there to batch reduce image resolution but not the image dimensions?

How can you reduce resolution without changing the dimensions? Do you mean you want to change the DPI field without changing any of the actual image data, or something else?

Yep, DPI. So an image of 800x600 @ 300DPI gets resized to 800x600 @ 72DPI.

If you don't need to preserve EXIF data for individual shots (eg time of shot, aperture, shutter speed) then it should be possible to rewrite the same EXIF header to all images using jhead... Google that for more info

. . . all monitors are 72 dpi . . 300 dpi only exist in print . . . for instance an image might be 2000x1500 pixel@ 72 dpi on the monitor and be 4x5 inches @ 300 dpi for print. . same exact image . . different medium . .... so what are you really trying to do? resize the file size for internet? that is a compression issue . .
