is that a serious question? . . I'm very comfortable being a gun owner . . you stand a better chance of being killed in a car than by a gun . .

I don't have a gun at present, but I'm happy and more secure in my life knowing that the people who live nearby are in control of THEIR guns.

I don't disagree that I have a better chance being in a car accident than I do being killed by a gun, and I would also concede this if I lived in the US. That argument does have it's faults though. You spend more time in a car than you do brandishing your gun and even if you do have your gun in hand 24/7, others do not. Drinking and driving is yet another factor, as is the fact that more people drive and own cars than do own guns (and considering most who own guns keep them at home or use them exclusively for entertainment at the firing range, this number is drastically reduced). Point being that we are exposed to and around cars basically all day (assuming you leave your house). So your argument holds little weight if you were to think about it.

But, I digress as you failed to answer the original question...are you in control of the millions of other people who also have "complete" control of their guns?

My meaning is simple, can you control someone else's use of their own gun?

I never met ONE person who said he isnt a responsible gun owner. Just like every person thinks hes a great driver. Funny how all the accidents keep happening while every gun owner is a responsible gun owner.

Just like you Wanton? There will never happen an accident with your gun right? Ask that to any other gun owner and he will say no, no accidents with my guns.

But we all know better...

ok dood litterally to scatter 500 guns across a 4700 sqft house is hard to do withouth having a gun on every bit of space... thats not what I meant... lets see I have a 4 handguns places around the house in different places... a handgun here in my office.. and in my bedroom sorry so out of the 500 I have 6 handguns placed around to where I could get one at any time... because you NEVER know dood... can you honestly say that you know 100% for sure that a criminal will NOT break into your house and try to KILL you and your family if you can answer that 100% for sure.. without a doubt in your mind... unless you live in fort knox dood you need help my friend... get with reality this is not a nice world anymore... you can't leave your doors unlocked like you could in the 40's and 50's... maybe where you live but I live in Las Vegas dood..... if Im not mistaken I think Nevada just got the number 1 most dangerous state to live in.... so now tell me.. am I the idiot for protecting myself and my family living in the countries most dangerous state? or would I be a bigger idiot if we ended up dead for not having protectin in the countries most dangerous state... you have to get with reality dood... police forces by their own admission are now "reactive" police forces rather than "proactive" because they are all understaffed... so that means they only react after a crime happends they do NOTHING to prevent a crime from happening.. thats where we as american citizens come in...

just like the judge just ruled..

"it's the parents responsibility to keep it away from them not the gov" remeber that on the 2257 thing? remember the judge that just did that... so take that into account.. as a home owner as an american citizen it's my duty to keep me and my family safe bottom line... I have kids dood I have no other option... I WILL not take chances.. I have lived in Las Vegas all my life I have also been over seas in the USMC I have seen up close and personal what someone intent on killing someone can do.. and damnit I am not going into a gunfight with a fucking knife or a fucking stun gun.... gimmie a break dood.. get with reality if you feel you don;t need guns in your house thats your progotive... I hope to GOD that no one ever tries to break into your house and you not have anything to defend yourself or your family with..

If people were actually in control of their guns, there wouldn't be a problem. The reality is that most americans aren't even able to control their weight, or their kids, their drinking, their fucking dog that shits on my lawn every day, and they don't appear to be able to drive a car in a straight line.

Americans in general show very little responsiblity or self control, so assuming that they will take responsiblity for their guns is a huge fucking leap of faith.

very good point.... most americans are NOT in control... so for all people who say I am just a gun loving advocate think again... I think it shuold be mandatory to have to fire your weapon at least once a month if you own a gun you should haev to fire once a month at least 500 rounds... a gun in the hands of someone who has no idea and is not trained is usless

explain?

because I speak of training with firearms? and everyone should train... dood owning a gun and keeping it locked up does not make someone a good gun owner... knowing your weapons inside and out and when and when not to use your weapon makes a good gun owner....

I really wish we could just cut the country in half and let the anti-gunners have whichever half they want. Within one year they would be all be crying to let them back over to the "pro gun side" after they see thier family members and friends get robbed, raped, and murdered in large numbers.

Let me see. America has very high crime rate. Rape, murders, theft, robbings, you name it. Higher than a lot of non gun countries. And on top of that A HUUUUUUUUGEE fucking gun problem because of all the guns people own.

So most civilized countries not only have less crime, they also dont have a gun problem.

Now read this over and over and over again till you understand i am saying you fucking imbecile.

Why stop at banning guns?

if the aim is to strip all need for any individual accountability, why not chop off everyone's arms and legs... or give the masses lobotomies... or maybe inject everyone with a mandatory daily drug dose that removes all aggressive tendencies?

That should lessen violence, too.

Don't blame the tools - blame the idiots that use them improperly.

We do blame the idiots who misuse guns. But the problem that many have is that the only purpose a gun serves is to either hurt or kill someone (unless you use your gun exclusivly for entertainment at the range), and lots of people have a problem with this.

PS. we are talking about handguns here, not rifles, or shotguns that do serve a legitimate purpose in society.

Frank and Danza are about as 180 degrees from each other as you can get. You both are way out there in Tinfoil land.

There is happy medium for everything and for you people that never grew up around firearms, i can use empathy and understand where you are coming from, but trust me, most of you anti gun nuts are just that, NUTS!

As far Danza, no explaining needed. He's just Nuts!

Actually, in the U.S., they're also a symbol of the citizen's power over his own government.

Part of the spirit behind the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in the eyes of the founding fathers was to enable physical control of the country's citizen militia forces over the Federal government itself. Handguns might not have existed back then, but neither did ICBM's.

As Thomas Jefferson first said in our Declaration of Independence from Britain:

"WHEN, in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands, which have connected them with another, and to assume, among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's GOD entitle them, a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the Causes which impel them to the Separation."

or, as he put more succinctly in a letter to James Madison:

"...a little rebellion now and then is a good thing..."

What's often unrealized by a lot of anti-gun peeps is that the Second Amendment was established to, essentially, ensure that the people retained the power to overthrow their government in the future.

While the American system, ideally, enables the citizenry to do so without the need for violence (for each new presidency/congress is, essentially, a peaceful overthrow of the previous government), the importance of the Second Amendment is still present as an enduring freedom to that end.

On a side-note: don't feel you need to start calling me names to compensate for whatever it is you're compensating for, bro.

Just like you Wanton? There will never happen an accident with your gun right? Ask that to any other gun owner and he will say no, no accidents with my guns.

But we all know better...

I only load my gun when I need it or think I'm gonna need it . . I don't use drugs and NEVER treat my gun casually . . am I supposed to think yer a dipshit and yer gonna kill yerself in a car or walk in front of train someday cause it could happen? this is the logic you just applied to me

70-80% of violent crimes are committed by blacks. . . why don't we outlaw blacks?

I agree . . I have taken 2 gun courses and have a very healthy respect for my guns . . I never play with my guns . . they are tools and very dangerous tools at that

My meaning is simple, can you control someone else's use of their own gun?
not trying too, can't control anyone with a knife, sword, spear, bottle of gasoline and a match, bad temper etc . . . or for that matter with a killer dog . . have you ever had a 150 lb dog go after you being held on lease by a 90 lb lady? that right there is a good reason to have a gun and I wish I'd had my gun with me that day . . that was an unpleasant experience . . just walking in the park minding my own biz and here comes some asshole with a killer attack dog . . that dog could have killed me and the woman prolly would have just walked. now that's total BS . . lets outlaw dogs?

I'm pro rifles and shotguns, anti handguns. I own several rifles and shotguns myself and they are great tools if you use them responsibility, for hunting and also home protection.

There is no such thing as an irresponsible gun owner - that's why US firearms offenses are the lowest in the world.

Linked to that, ya could probably question the mentality of gun owners - they are obvious totally sane and well-balanced.
