The U.K or The U.S

Their have been alot of discussion about gun crime in the USA, what i want to know is weather or not ppl think the crime rate is worse in the UK or the USA.

and pls dont go around quoting statistics, having studied maths and economics i am well aware of the fact that most of the statistics available on the internet havent been collected properly and that statistics can be used to prove or disprove anything so i dont really trust them

You can include Leeds in that list..... there are places in leeds and nottingham where even the cops dont go without a van of armed police, in full riot gear.

Had to stay in the UK for a month - no one pulled a gun on me and I heard no gunfire. Still the shittiest month of my life -- London sucks ass.

Then again, I've lived in the US all my life ( San Fran bay area & Denver, CO ) and have never had a gun pulled on me or heard gunshots. I've also never ventured into shitty neighborhoods, either.

Doesn't really matter what country = big city = crime (aside from Japan. Love those weirdos)

okay...generally I feel safer in UK cities than I do in comparable parts of US cities. I will walk in the center on London at night on my own and feel pretty sure nothing is going to happen to me.

That said, I feel very safe in the country/small town areas of the States and I don't have enough experience of those areas in the UK to comment.

The one thing I will say in the UK is that amongst some groups it is considered more acceptable to do petty crimes than it would be in the community I grew up with in the States. Shoplifting, benefit fraud, etc and that kind of thing. However, the vast majority still feel it is unacceptable and I have only once been a victim of a crime in the UK in the ten years I have lived here and that was having my wallet stolen about five years ago.

No matter where you go you'll find trouble/danger. US, UK, Germany, Spain... I'm pretty sure there's fucked up people who just want to cause misery to other people.

I'm in Scotland and there's places in Glasgow where you just don't go at night unless you're from that area. In general I feel safe in my own country. You learn to spot trouble before it happens. I could never imagine anyone pulling a gun on me here tho thats one thing I will say.

This is bullshit....... when were you in Chapeltown and where? I spent around 6 months in Gipton and 6 months in Chapeltown (right in the heart of it) and i can tell you that those two are probably two of the worst areas in the UK.

In the last few years, those two places are like Bosnia in the UK. No taxi firm will drop you in there, hell I couldnt even get the pizza people to drop off pizza in Chapeltown. No-one walks the streets in those areas DURING THE DAY except for drug dealers.

Im surprised Ross Kemp hasnt covered those places yet for his SKY series on "Gangs".....
