Dang good look at the way powerlifters and bodybuilders differ
in strength and technique.

One thing I can attest to is if you spend a dedicated amount
of time learning how and executing a good bodybuilding and
strength training regimien it will do you wonders. Even if you
fall off and go back to it years later the body remembers and
recovers very fast.

The article talks about how some guys can bench 800+ pounds.
That's just incredible! The stress on the bones and joints is
amazing at that point but that's why strength training is so
important. Builds up the tendons and ligaments.

It's a pretty specific point that this article makes and only is relevant for advanced people who are really, really into either bodybuilding or powerlifting, not beginners at either. But it makes sense. I train more for gaining size rather than maximum strength. Of course one gains both with training, but depending on how you train, progress at one or the other will likely predominate. Even at only 155 lbs my chest is much bigger in totality and also in proportion to the rest of my torso than a lot of guys I see in the gym who can bench press almost twice what I can bench press. Some of that is because a few of those guys are more into powerlifitng but mostly because a lot of them aren't really training right.

Jim, height also comes into play with bodybuilding. The majority of top bodybuilders are under 5' 10". It makes them look bigger at those heights.

I'm blessed with strength and size. I gain both very fast.

I had laid off from serious iron pumping for almost a year and it's taken me only 3 weeks part time to reach 75% of my record strength and 50% of my size. I'm going for broke this year. I'll feel satisfied with a weight of 200lbs of solid muscle. I could get up to 270 or more but that much weight is not what I want. Too dangerous on the body.

Lean and mean and strong as a bull is what I'm going for.
