Still worth the US$600 for Yahoo Directory Listing?

Bit out of touch with the boooost a Yahoo directory listing gives a site these days.

Am in 2 minds whether to bother with it seeing there's so many spam listings in there (are Yahoo workers just chucking in their own / mates crud sites? the--sex---directory---blog.com kind of cack), however lots of my competitors are listed in one of the not so corrupted sections (still adult).

I am thinking about using the $600 for paid links on obscure sites which aren't yet seen as paid link traps instead - can probably get 10 PR4+ links for that no? Never bought a link in my life so not sure.

Yahoo worth it YES / NO?

Seems like you'd be better served using that $600 on Yahoo PPC program to promote your site. By they way that $600 does NOT guarantee a listing. It's guarantees your site will be reviewed for consideration.

If you have a decent site and are looking for SE traffic yes.

Shit site and hope to get enough hits to pay for the listing, no.

I've gotten a few free listings over the years and it used to be worth it but not really so much lately. Like the guy said above it may be worth it if you have the right site in there, I don't.

I burned $100 in a day for my phrases as a test with Yahoo ppc. v popular search terms.

As there's no guarantee of inclusion and no money back even if not accepted, I think they can go fuck themselves.

Any dodgy yahoo workers who want a backhander let me know

Good optimization will get you all the traffic you can capitalize on from Yahoo. Their algorithm isn't that tough, just keep it clean.

I think the directory limits you a lot on normal search terms. I bought a site quite some time back that has a few yahoo dir listings.

Well the site only gets listed in the normal search serps for the same directory terms but almost nothing else. Meanwhile the site has always done great in google, but I can almost never get good listings on yahoo.

Maybe someone else could confirm that they have had the same issuies.. would be interresting to say the least.

It may depend on the number of listings in the category. For example, a sex toy site will be included with over 1,000 other similar sites, and basically be lost. So, that is probably NOT worth it.

If the category has only a few listings, it might be worthwhile.
