Pissed off at high gas prices? Blame the car manufacturers

Most the huge automotive demand for oil is due to the fact that modern internal combustion engines favored by big car makers are HIGHLY INEFFICIENT. In fact, the top efficiency rate of our BEST engines don't exceed 28%.

Obviously, the more efficient the engines, the lower the fuel consumption. Enter Niko Tesla's engine... invented over 98 years ago, it reaches efficiency rates of 60%.

No, blame the consumers that buy cars and trucks that get shitty gas mileage.
Blame the oil companies for buying back stock options and not reinvesting in drilling for more oil, increasing production or building new refineries.
Hell, the refiners are always running around 70% compacity. They are constanity taking about refineries offline. WTF for??
The oil companies are taking in record profits and not putting it back towards the consumers.
I heard the other day somewhere. There used to be like 12 major opil companies, here in the US in 1990.
Now there are 5.

More like the oil industry is pulling an Enron on us. Isn't it funny that the refineries always go down for maintenance when the need for gas is at it highest. They always seem to break down at the right time too.

Ya know what, when you have an oil company man for pres and vp, you aren't going to see any oversight.

I heard on ABC World News, Monday that the oil companies make about $30-$40 profit on a fuckin barrel of oil, after its processed. Its fuckin outrageous and the Fuckin Bush Admin wont do shit since he is in bed with the fuckers.

From ABC News:
Record Profits
In the first three months of this year, the five largest integrated oil companies made $29.5 billion in profits, up 4.5 percent from a year earlier.

That works out to $320 million a day, $13.4 million an hour, and $222,569 a minute."

Read it for yourself. You will get pissed:

Oh hell yeah, California had these "rolling blackouts" in 2001-2002 because of power plants having to be "maintained" and refitted. Electric rates shot throught the roof (good thing my area was covered by LA DWP which had its own system). Investigators in 2006 later discovered this was complete bullshit by the power companies.

This isn't far out shit, this actually happens--large corporations, when given the chance, will assrape the consumer.

Unfortunately, that’s what capitalism is. They get to charge essentially whatever they want, or however much you are willing to pay for it.

Until enough consumers decide to stand up and fight back, the problem will only get worse. George Bush can’t do anything about it. But John Doe can. John Doe has the power to force oil companies to lower their prices by not driving a few blocks to go to the store to just pickup one or two items. He has to walk there, or ride a bike there. He has to use public transportation whenever possible. He has to carpool as much as possible. HE has to actually be willing to work for something for once.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of John Does aren’t going to do shit about it and that is why you are going to see gas prices continue to rise as long as the John Does of the world continue to suck down gas faster than a diet coke and do nothing to curb their own consumption of it.

Love this
"The national price for regular unleaded gasoline hit a record $3.22 a gallon this week, and is up $1.05 since the beginning of February, according to the Energy Department."

"Officials from oil giants Exxon Mobil, Chevron and Shell Oil, along with major oil refiner Valero Energy Corp., were asked to testify at the hearing but declined to appear."

from msnbc website.

Fucking $1.05 gallon extra profit since feb. Yep there is no gouging going on.

Tax the fuck out of the bastards. Take away all and I mean all of their tax breaks, and start prosecuting for profiting off the war. Throw a couple of the ceo's in jail and then we will see how long the high prices last.

My brother in law works for a company that repairs the refineries when they go down. He works sixteen hour days seven days a week and does this for a year at time. The money the oil companies shells out to these guys is insane.

Well, when the the Prez and VP have their hand in the cookie jar. And they've put their own personal friends and profiteers into other high places. This is what happens. There isn't anyone to do anything about it, their all profiting off it.

I remember reading a while back, about how the 4-bangers flourished when the government leaned on the manufacturers to make more fuel efficient vehicles, to get away from the big block 8's they were producing. I think it was the late 70's early 80's.

I also thought there were some regulations about some %age of the manufactures fleet could not exceed a certain fuel economy level.

Anyways, the best way to combat the high fuel prices, is to find ways where the Gov't can pressure big oil into properly maintaining its refining facilities to reduce costs of retro-fitting and repairs, as well and properly regulate the reserve supplies to ensure they never dip below the level that pushes prices sky high.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with Cheney meeting with oil execs in 2001 and lying to hide it. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...111501842.html

I don't know what the fucking mystery is, no different than if a dairy farmer became president and milk went to $10 a gallon. Hello!

why does it have to be someone's fault.

wah wah wah wah wah - if people spent more time thinking about important issues rather than who to blame for all the world's problems we'd all be better off.

There are two kinds of people - people who blame others for everything and those who find solutions.

Prices go up on lots of things and it's no one's fault.
