I have had some bad experiences with the last design team I worked for not following instructions, sending my work to someone that probably could not read English to start with, and then bitching when I want alterations done on something I was told they where capable of completing. Do most of these guys just make up fake portfolios, and then when you expect simpler work done on you behalf act like your the problem?

I have been looking for a top notch designer for over 2 weeks now, and its getting old fast. So if you guys could recommend someone even if they cost a bit more it would really help me. I just hate this generic crap many only want to create to save time, and at this point not sure I trust portfolios at all.

Ya sure man, I have you on my list just talking with a few others first, but my list is not very long. I do think you show some good work man, so at sometimes I am sure I will give you guys a shot at something anyway

Just seems the sites/work would perfect for TGP, and again the toons are very good man. But Normally for promo stuff or tours I like a bit better flow. I have seen many people work this week and sites that are mainly made up of small square stacked upon each other are just not very attractive to me. For tours like just like to break that up with more flowing lines. The background images are going to be square basically so breaking this up does help in my mind.

I did put you down on my list I am sure I will need some toons at some point and for the last time you are REALLY good at that.

Ok, well, tour wise etc, fine... I understand what you mean, tho I don't necessarily agree with your statement... our designs are based on the type of sites (so far in the portfolio) that if I made them more broken up, our clients would have cried and complained. Blog designs for instance. Most of my clients so far have requested a specific layout.

We haven't done any tours yet.

The quality of the web designs we do, we are still very proud of, and while the layouts may not suit you, the quality of the actual graphics, I think you'd have to admit aren't bad ;)

But everyone to themselves. I just got quite worried when you said the words you said before because it just sounded like you were telling me my work was boxy. Which is far from the case, design wise.

Thanks for elaborating. Don't dismiss us tho man. In future, you may need a design that calls for our styles. 99% of the designs we've done are laid out the way they are, because the client requested it. We put ideas down, but if a client wants something, they get it. We're not going to tell them that they're wrong. We can only have input.

Ya sure I know how it is man, and your right you guys did not really have any tours listed. The detail was very impressive after looking at some many people portfolios they all kind of blend together. And at least you did offer thumbnails at all, (do wish they showed the whole site) I really hate design sites that only have a list of links they want me to randomly click though. If I see that I just close the window and go to the next designers page. I guess it might sound weird but if a designer can not layout their own page in a easy to use way it just says to me that they will never be able to offer the detail I am looking for.

Communication is VERY important in design work not sure simple text is going to get it done in my book. If their English is not very good, regardless how good they are, it just making working with them almost impossible.

That was just My opinion really did not want to make you go though any extra work man. The layout of your site is really nice, its just IMO when looking though these sites its just easier to be able to see the layout of the sites in the thumbnails.

When I look at a portfolio I am looking for the style of the pages, so being able to see the ones that most resemble what I am looking for just makes it easier. Also I would imagine this could help in sales too, as webmasters would spend most of their time looking at tours that appealed to them in the first place. But hell man like I said I hate to make you do any extra work, trust me I know how it is.

I agree with you here buddy.

I was searching for a few designers a few weeks back for a combination of adult, and mainstream sites, as well as blogs, and some other projects. You are talking about somewhere in the ballpark of $40k in design work over 2 years.

I received a TON of links via e-mail, ICQ and my post on here. 75% or more of the people's designs looked like the same cookie cutter. Just different colors. A tweak here, and change there. But they all blended together.

In the end I picked up two. One for mainstream, and one for adult. I will probably add in one more just to ease up the workload on my adult one as I have a pretty intense schedule I am looking to keep. Not the cheapest by comparison, but I want quality work.

The work schedule I am looking at means you have to be able to crank out quality work every week. That means none of the usual whodini vanishing acts we've all been burned with in the past. The dead grandmother 3 times, computer fried, internet connection issues, etc, etc, etc.

I am not as concerned with the cost as I am about...

1. You stay on schedule
2. You know how to communicate, and DO IT. This means you keep me in the loop. Without me hassling you.
3. Your work quality doesn't suffer because it's a bulk order. You crank out the same level of quality every week.

If you can't meet those commitments. Then for every week you are late, you should be discounting me on your price. I do not care if it takes you a week per to do it right. Be upfront about it, and have it DONE in that week.

Essentially.. be professional. I pay 100% money. I expect 100% service.

Unlike so many others, I'll be straight-up and honest when I say that I may not be able to provide what you need but I'd be willing to hear what you have to say. I presently don't run any adult websites outside of my software label (http://www.digitalsatin.com/) but I've got about 10 years of web programming (including 8 as a professional) experience under my belt. The majority of my work when I was pro was corporate intranets and presence pages for various stock agents, my last "real" adult site was in 1998 when I sold exclusive adult content that I shot myself. English is my native language. I can show you previous works if you'd like, and I can assure you that "cookie cutter" is not in my vocabulary when it comes to web design...nothing I hate more than a boring-ass website design we've all seen ten thousand times before. well, if you take a look at my portfolio you'll see it's the less "cookiecutterish" you'll ever find (aside maybe of Bruno Dickman's. I consider myself wilder, but his guys are superb at programming). And it hasn't been updated since August 2006 or so, I've made loads of paysites since then, and all my clients are asking for something different, so I must admit I gone kinda wild sometimes, and I don't mean design wise only, but also on the programming side ;) (applied to design, of course)

either way, the most important thing is that wild or not, I'm one of the few designers that can show proof of GREAT conversions, which I'm very proud of. Check my clients list (I've many more top names now) to see what I'm talking about

So if you ask me, I'm one of the best around. Non cookie cutter, state of the art programming, AMAZING conversions with proof (you can see then at my site or inside members areas of many programs), very affordable. Did I mention FAST?

Anyway, the bad side of this is that you'll usually need to wait a little (usually between 10 and 30 days), but if I have to believe my clients, it worths the waiting.

I premium portfolio no necessarily mean you will get a premium service.

The quality of the final product is important but its just a part of the business, I think asking in forums for other users experience (like you are doing now) + reviewing the portfolio is the key to get a succesful service.

hmm well I certainly don't fall into the 'best designers' category, but I do fall into the 'designers with the most adult experience' category. I started working as a designer in the industry in 1998 and have since designed so many sites I find it hard to remember many of them. I have a crap folio, because I'm too busy to keep it up to date. My clients are almost always referrals with a few from gfy when I have gaps in my schedule.

I started working as a designer in the industry in 1998 and have since designed so many sites I find it hard to remember many of them. I have a crap folio, because I'm too busy to keep it up to date. My clients are almost always referrals with a few from gfy when I have gaps in my schedule.
