Shogun is a mean one for sure!

Its seems to me though that the UFC is ran through some sort of "FCC" ya know what I mean.

Im mean i watch the UFC and its hard core malicious brawling...but then I watch pride or MMA or even the overseas whatever, they seem so much more rapid and intense. More skilled and deadly.

I mean take this guy here Shogun, You dont see mother fuckers flying heel stomping your face...

what im wondering is...are they allowed to and just dont? or are there more rules as far as eye gouging and face stomping goes in UFC?

Shogun will dominate

These guys just keep getting more scarry...

Not just in UFC but in the local ranks...

Some of my cousins were training to make a comeback, but the locals now are fucking brutal.....

The BP4L has evolved to submission grappling tournies now rather than MMA cage fights.

Fucking scarry now days.

Brutal man. Just Brutal..

No stomps allowed in the UFC, or knees to the head on the ground.

He will have to completely change his style of fighting to fight in the UFC. Alot of the stuff he does is not allowed in the UFC. i.e. strikes to the back of the head, knees to the head while down, head stumps etc.

Never the less he is a bad ass mofo with an iron chin!

nice vid!

Nice. My kids have been doing BJJ now going on 2 years, I rolled with my son before my fight, and I can tell I won't be able to handle him in 2 years. He's 5'4" 140lbs now, at 12. His twin sister's nickname is "Armbar".

But look at the main thing he's getting when fights in the UFC.

ELBOWS!!!

Muay Thai Fighter allowed to use elbows... Look what Kenny Florian did with 6 months training, imagine what the Chute Boxe boys are gonna do.

Yeah I've seen that clip before. Rua dominated. I almost felt sorry for Rampage because he just kept getting his ass handed to him painfully. It was like watching a big kid beat up a little kid.

As far as UFC and Pride, how did UFC manage to buy Pride? Isn't Pride the bigger and better network? Pride is better, more fierce, with more devastating fights.

It's gotta be enviroment and diet. I came over to the USA at 4, and I'm 6'1" 250lbs. So my boy is gonna be at least 6'4", and a monster.

Though they really can't be called Asians or Pacific Islanders anymore, they are half Puerto Rican. So Filiricans or Puertopinos.

pride lost their major tv contract because of supposed connections with the yakuza and it hurt them financially. that in combination with fighting with this loser Ed Fishman in the US and they ended up giving in to a deal. the unfortunate part is pride always had better rules, and better fighters and when fertitas bought pride they talked about continuing it and so on, but it looks more like they're holding it out and letting it die in an effort to negotiate lower prices on contracts for fighters to fight in the ufc.

Hit me up on icq 21239908, I'll shoot you the video. I lost to GnP in the first round, I took about 15 to 20 shots to the back of the head.

It's true. 2nd generation Asians are big/tall in America. As a result, we're going to see more and more Asian athletes in American sports in the future. It's already happening in basketball and baseball. They're eating the same hormone injected sludge we are.

Yes there used to be more forbidden moves in the UFC then in Pride FC. As for today, the UFC bought Pride FC and it will be unified rules (ufc rules everywhere). I will explain the rules difference in a couple minutes.
Another reason is that the Chute Box guys use a very unorthodox style of striking. They are like wild dogs (check his brother Ninja, Wanderlei Silva etc).

Andersen Silva is also an ex Chute Box guy.

The main difference between both orgs :
You cannot use elbows in pride (mostly because elbows create cuts and stopage)
You can use footstomps in pride
You can use knees to the head when 4 points are toutching the ground in pride (deadly in north south position)
You cannot slam someone on his head in the UFC

The UFC is currently trying to allow 4 points knees on the ground, but I doubt we'll ever see foot stumps or head slams ever allowed. The worst thing for the sport right now would be a death in the octogon since It'S becomming mainstream in the USA.

It was pretty much a concensus agaisn't the MMA hardcore fans and press that the Pride guys were overall much more skilled, but lately, with all the upsets in the octogon, it's giving UFC fans something to brag about... but the Hearings of this world couldn't do anything agaisn't guys like Big Nog and the other top pride guys. Time will tell who are the better fighters.

As far as UFC and Pride, how did UFC manage to buy Pride? Isn't Pride the bigger and better network? Pride is better, more fierce, with more devastating fights.
Bad management from Dream Stage Ent... they got tied up to the Yakusa (or the other org) and lost their TV deal over there. Everything went down from there.

The UFC on the other hand, aren't paying their fighters that much and have been constantly selling over a million pay per view every event lately.

They are rumored to have bought pride for 70 mills.

Actually they made the announcement a while ago but they OWN it since less then a week ago. They said in a press conference last week that they are not dropping the ball on pride (would be stupid, huge brand recognition in Japan).

The fightters they signed lately all have in their contracts that they can fight both in the UFC and Pride FC

Huh?
WWF is not like UFC, it's not even in the ballpark.
One is fake wrestling, the other is real mixed-martial arts ...

It's like comparing a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie to a Kimbo Slice fight...

It seems to me UFC is growing rapidly but the payouts for the fighters isn't increasing propotionally, but I don't know for certain and it may be premature to pay higher. It amazes me how many of these guys just love to fight and are willing to get their heads bashed in for a couple grand. I hope the organizations begin having large pay days to get the best fighters out there and to develop the sport by encouraging future fighters to begin training and looking to make a name for themselves in this sport rather than sports on the decline like boxing.

You're right - they're taking it slowly because a death would severely hurt the sport that's still in its infancy. I think a time will come when it won't be as much of an issue, but it's far down the road.

The org is cleaning a couple millions from live gate (4 mill last UFC) and 1 + million ppv buy (approx 28 mills clear after cable providers get paid).

They made more PPV sales then boxing or wrestling in the last year.

(Theses ammounts does not include bonuses, PPV cuts, profit sharing or whatever else).

MMAWeekly has obtained the fighter salary information for UFC 71, which took place on Saturday, May 26th in Las Vegas.

The following figures are based on the fighter salary information that the UFC is required by law to submit to the state athletic commissions, including the winners' bonuses. (Chuck Liddell and Quinton Jackson had flat salaries with no win bonuses.)

Although MMA fighters do not have collective bargaining or a union, the fighters' salaries are still public record, just as with every other major sport in the United States. Any undisclosed bonuses that the UFC also pays its fighters, but does not disclose to the athletic commissions (specifically, PPV bonuses for PPV main event fighters), are not included in the figures below. Also not reflected below are the taxes that the fighters have to pay.

In the listings below, "Main Event Fighters" are defined as fighters who compete in the main event of a show. "Main Card Fighters" are defined as fighters whose fights appear on the main card, but not in title fights or in the main event. "Preliminary Match Fighters" are defined as fighters whose matches take place before the live broadcast goes on the air, regardless of whether or not those matches end up airing on the PPV broadcast.

In addition, next to each fighter's name is the number of UFC fights that he has had, not counting fights that took place during Ultimate Fighter seasons because those fights are officially classified as exhibitions.

Title Match & Main Event Fighters

-Chuck Liddell: $500,000 (18th fight in UFC; lost to Quinton Jackson)

-Quinton Jackson: $225,000 (2nd fight in UFC after 17 fights in Pride; defeated Chuck Liddell)

Interesting info about how many boxers have died in the boxing ring.

Quote:
An editorial in The Spokesman-Review of Spokane, Washington, after the fight said nearly 900 boxers had died as a result of injuries in the ring since 1920.

"It is time to halt that tabulation," the newspaper said. "It is time to ban boxing, a sport in which death is the predictable outcome of athletic proficiency ... it is surprising that more boxers don't die.
