Honestly, do you REALLY need CSS in a simple gallery? Are we really concerned for a addiyional 1 or 2kb of loadtime we might save ona thumbnail gallery?

A drunk monkey with Frontpage can put together a gallery. Using stylesheets isn't hurting nor benefittng you any on a gallery in my opinion...

Why dont you examine some of the code from all the FHG's out there. If you want to get really crafty you can setup the image layout in Photoshop and use the slice tool to break apart the image and then save it using their save for web option and it will create all the code for you. You can tweak a few things here and there after that, but its pretty much setup.
