Skylofts MGM Vegas - tipping?

I may be taking a friend there this summer and in reading all the reviews, I see there's a butler taking care of my every needs (well, most of them ). What's a good amount to tip? Do you have the same person every day? Is that who brings in food/night snacks or is there someone else?

I always leave $$$ for the maids and tip room service, but being a redneck from the south, have never stayed in a place with a butler

Thanks for any advice (and no, I don't think he wants a BJ - I'm sure cash would be preferred from me ).

This entire post was Greek to 99% of GFY.

I heard a while back they had 1/2 of them for rent and other 1/2 for sale. How much are they a night?

Stayed in the Lofts a while back for 4 nights. I tipped the butler/conceirge guy $200 at the end. It's not like there's someone there 24/7. They are a bit of an overkill. My favorite rooms at the MGM are the Terrace Suites followed by the Marquee Suites.

During an "off week" they aren't crazy - $600 a night. With a trip to and from the airport in a Maybach (heck, I'd spend $100 just for that) and from what I've read, it includes personalized stationary that I can use to write to all my friends who really don't give a shit, a monogrammed pillowcase you can take home with you and MOST IMPORTANT: free minibar stuff, free food goodies brought in daily/nightly including CHOCOLATE, and I THINK a free meal.

Wynn was just under $300 a night and while the hotel is nice, the service absolutely, totally, completely sucked. Period. Worst I've dealt with in years at ANY hotel. If I can get a much better room with much better service, talk about biz for a few minutes so it's a tax write off, I'm happy. Plus I'm not staying there a week or anything - 2-3 nights tops and my budget is gone

So do you have the same guy the whole time, PK? Yeah, it does look like overkill but I'm trying to really, really treat someone. I'll check the places you suggested too. I just want something out of the ordinary.

Thanks!

No..not the same guy 24/7.. several different ones. Guess they shift them out 3 or 4 in a day at least they did last Fall. The Maybach.. pfftt.. sure it's fun once.. you get to jump line for the cabs and things also. The shower in the room is great.

I just prefer the Terrace suites nice deck, two stories and the strip view. I'm a more casual person and the MGM has always been a favorite of mine. My late teen/early twenty-somethings kids love it.

I detested the Wynn. Stayed in a Tower Parlor Suite the second month they were open. Room was great, service sucked, food sucked..even the room service.

Yeah, when I was on my 3RD phone call in 6 hours to get refills of the toiletries (not only did they not replace them, but they took the ones already there!), I knew I was in trouble. Service in the restos was awful, RS was awful, everything was just crap.

I'll check out the Terrace Suites. I can live w/ or w/o staying at the MGM - the Skylofts just seemed out of the ordinary enough since the person I'm taking seems to have everything.
