$1 for 1000 visitors is different from $1 CPM.

Are you selling clicks or just impressions on a page with the link?

If only AVN/AdBrite considered other payments options besides checks, I would already be using this feature.

That's good news. Since when is it available? I asked support again last weekend and they said only check was supported.

Isn't AVNAds + PayPal a dangerous combination, considering that PayPal doesn't allow anything adult related?

Just wondering, is ePassporte available too?

You guys also serve up ads for these video codec sites. You should try and screen your advertisers a little better. Now that your network is being flagged for trojan behavior with the major antivirus companies, I thought maybe you might take these things a little more serious. As of this morning, if someone adds your general ads to their sites, they are just putting their surfers at risk of infection.

I really can't believe you guys aren't taking this a little more serious.

Sure thing, here is a quote from another board this morning--
Quote:
I added AvnAds to abbeysporn today to try them out... later on in the day I went back to check them out and clicked a few of the ads... BAM I got a video codec trojan page... see proof...
Here is the screen grab of the link and subsequent clicks.

I posted a thread here a bit ago about this, and with the information from that the trojan folks were actually adding the virus to the sites themselves with flash or whatever. Adbrite/avnads said they fixed that, but obviously they don't really have a grasp on what they are dealing with(or maybe they know exactly what they are doing)
For the record, Trendmicro still flags sites that use adbrite/avnads as having spyware and recommends closing them and never returning to the site again.(See the screenshot in the last link posted to see what it actually says)
As the links they are adding to their network are direct to trojans, it doesn't appear that they give a shit who gets infected.

And surfers are getting flags from any sites running the avnads adzones advising them to block the site and never return??

Can't be having any of that, looks like I'll be taking down my adzones then...

Is anyone here currently using Contexaclick? Do they keep their ads cleaner than AVN, or am I going to be pulling all their adzones down in a month too if I make a switch? I'm seriously considering it. I like ot keep my pages free of spyware and crap, the last thing i need is someone else's shady shit turning surfers away from my site by setting off their anti-spyware alarms...

@Quickdraw: Doesn't AVNAds allow you to disable network ads and verify every direct ad? That way you can check the sites yourself before they appear on your site(s).

that a whole lot of work considering the volume of advertisements added in a week. they should have some quality control in place...

I'm pretty sure they have that feature, but not sure how that changes the situation. At the very least it makes it so using them is not as easy as Plug n Play, but surfers with some of the major AV software will still be blocked/warned about the potential trouble.
If you have never been infected with one of these 'codecs', then you can't understand just how big the problem is.

Why exactly should the advertiser have to spend the time and effort to go out and track down where their ads are being shown, and put up blocks? Isn't the main reason to use an ad system to get your ads in front of the right people in the right places? Shouldn't the ad system be spending a small amount of it's income (say 30-40k$ per year) to hire someone to do nothing but review sites?

It seems such a small price to pay to be able to say "we don't tolerate adware, scumware, or spyware - and we don't tolerate copyright violating sites, torrent sites, or other people thieving against the industry we claim to lead".

AVN? Hello? Anyone home? Absentee landlords?

The board can be pretty hostel but for the most part I enjoy the feedback.

I am online or on my email 9-6PST M-F so please, if you have any questions contact me.

For those of you serious about testing the $1 per 1000 Interstitial Views - We are about 50% full on inventory at $1 so please contact me asap to get going.

A lot of you have wanted to know about the Interstitial and how we track/charge for it.

An Interstitial is a FULL PAGE REDIRECT that places a visitor onto the Advertisers URL (Landing Page) after the 3-5th pageview using a cobranded header bar. The user can interact with the advertiser page or click "Skip this Ad" and return to the Publishers site.

THE INTERSTITIAL ONLY FIRES ONCE PER DAY PER UNIQUE USER!!!

We charge the advertiser for each time we FIRE the interstitial and take the user from our publishers website to the advertisers website.

The current offer is $1 for 1000 Interstitial FIRES.

I hope this helps? Contact me if not~!

The issues arrose from advertisers with Flash banners. We have since removed the ability for advertisers to upload Flash banners.

The spyware companies identified us as spyware due to flash banners that one of our advertisers was running. We have removed the ability for advertisers to manually upload flash banners, and are working with the security company to remove the alerts.

If anyone runs into similar issues or has questions about working with us I encourage you to contact me.

The AV issue was revived today because you guys are allowing trojans within your network of advertisers.
Would you care to address that issue?

As far as this board being hostile.
I don't think pointing out that you guys facilitating trojan installs is hostile. This has been going on for some time now. Obviously contacting you guys about them has been futile, so why shouldn't the community understand that if they send traffic to you they are potentially infecting their userbase?

The board isn't hostile, you are behaving hostile by endangering our income. You are funding and this way supporting sites that publish or at least link to stolen content, spread trojans that change affiliate codes.

People are angry because you make money on our expense. We are just defending our content and our income, it's a reaction on how you are running your business and fail to monitor your network properly.

How about you clean up your own trojan laden backyard before you start worrying about what anyone else is doing.

Oh, and answering the questions at hand might help too.

Again I ask this question.
So why is AVNADS STILL allowing trojans and spyware within their network? I'm talking about text links here, not the flash ads that you guys allowed to infect a large segment of the market before you did anything.
If there is any professionalism left within AVN, it would be nice to hear why you guys are infecting our customers.

for fucks sake, I set something up and by default the bid price is .01 so I'm thinking well this guy did say 90% discount and these usually cost $10 per k. $200 later I have 26000 hits...little misleading? especially since I hit him up about his gfy offer and he didnt say anything about adjusting the default bid.
