DVD production: need help
I'm calling all DVD producers who are familiar with the whole process of making a DVD. I'd like you to help me with a few details.
No I do need help with video editing, sound mixing whatever. The problem is I never make an adult DVD ready for duplicating and sale and I have no idea about specific 2257 requirements applied to it and a cover. All links will be appreciated. What I'm confused with is: 1. The max. period of time a warning message should be displayed on a screen. 2. The max. font size this message should be typed with. 3. Any other 2257 requirements applied to a DVD and a cover. 4. What type of a license I should require if I buy music loops/tracks for an adult DVD which is meant to be duplicated in numbers. It's not an option to take a sample DVD and just find what I need. I can miss something or do it wrong. Thank you for your replies and links ![]()

For all of these except point 4 I would purchase a pro DVD to check, but...
1. If by "warning message" you mean the FBI message, 30 seconds is the max. 15 seconds is fine. Make it so users can skip through it. 2. Still not sure if you mean the FBI warning or the 2257 compliance statement, but make it legible in a plain font. 3. 2257 information needs to be printed on the DVD cover artwork and on the actual DVD too. Each and every performer on the DVD needs to be covered the statement, so if you are including advertising or trailers for other productions make sure the statement is correctly dated for those as well. 4. ? Did you produce the music on the DVD? It sounds like no so you need an agreement with the producer of it. An agreement for use of the music in present and future media formats and technologies should have been in place to begin with. If you have a wholesaler they can provide you with their specifications.

So there should be 2 messages both the FBI warning and the 2257 compliance going one after another?
As far as I understand it's better to contact a wholesaler who will provide me with all specs and requirements I should follow while making a DVD?

It's definitely better to contact YOUR wholesaler, if you have one already. They can give you their exact specs. They may have additional requirements.

Now it's much more clear for me. Thank you very much.
