Tubecgi (PERL) FREE Video site script $1000 give away NOW!

OK, the new version in PERL is ready and easy to install:
Dont be "creative" with the install just do exactly what the instructions say.

http://tubecgi.com/adulttube/tube.zip
http://tubecgi.com/adulttube/banners.zip
http://tubecgi.com/install.html

I'm going to give away 20 permanent licenses to tubecgi in this thread.
That's $1,000 in free scripts! The script will run as a free trial so everyone interested should install it and maybe you get a free license.

This script comes loaded with 2000+ flash videos from:

occash
slickcash
perfectgonzo

Just plug in your affiliate code and click submit!

You can then use tubecgi to "strip" video from hosted galleries to get more videos.

* This a tube site without waiting for surfers to upload video.
You're not going to check all the videos to see if "crap" without the "ra"
is uploaded so why even bother.

I'm doing this to get some better beta testing and input, so thanks in
advance. The webmasters with these licenses will get all future updates to the script at no cost.

RULES:

1. download the script http://tubecgi.com/adulttube/tube.zip
and banners http://tubecgi.com/adulttube/banners.zip

2. install the script http://tubecgi.com/install.html

3. Bump this thread with the domain you installed and a email to get the
license (you can email me if you don't want to post an email)
-- tube at econfirmpro dot com --

4. I don't want to give free licenses to someone who doesn't install the script and the script reports the installed domain. So install the script before you email me asking for the license.

5. Free script winners must put a link to http://tubecgi.com in their webpage templates with some text similar to
"Powered by Tubecgi" of "Built by Tubecgi" or something clever to get me clicks.

That's it.

I just tried it on a Webair virtual and Split Infinity virtual and neither worked. The webair did actually create the main.cgi (which I assume is what was supposed to happen when i ran install.cgi) but it still returned a server error.

I tried it, it didn't work.
I got almost all the way on the first try throught the install, until I got to

- Click "template"; if no data appears in the text area then the domain level install failed
(if failed, check that permissions of all folders are 777, and fix and repeat domain install)

When I repeated the install, all I get are error messages, nothing I do is working now.

Everything was also correct in my install, except for the missing 'template' part.

Delete it and start over and read the installation instructions again.
Upload as ascii!

If you got that far then the script is working you must have not uploaded as instructed.

Did you change the path to perl on BOTH lines:

#!/usr/bin/perl
$perlpath = "/usr/bin/perl"; ## DO NOT INCLUDE "#!" on this line!

################ INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS ###############################
# Change the path to perl above to your sever path if different.
# Be sure to change it on both lines above.
# Up load the entire "tube" folder to you cgi-bin directory.
# chmod this script to 755.

didn't have to. That was my path on one server. The other server was /usr/local/bin/perl and yes, I did change both lines. Your instructions were great actually. Really hard to screw up the install, but there is still a glitch in there somewhere for me.

Has this been tested on a webair virtual?

It works on any server that meets the requirements and doesn't return wierd stuff in the perl environment variables.

True, is I weren't talking to five people at once.

Let me login to your server and make it work.

This issue is that some servers return for example a script path like this:

/www/somedomain/cgi-bin/tube/install.cgi

while the script expects /www/somedomain/cgi-bin/tube/

I can fix this if I know exactly what is being returned.

Fix 1

The server paths returned were differrent on your servers so I changed the code not to rely on that except for a couple of fields.

So you need to download the tube.zip again
and upload the install/ascii folder.

upload the install.cgi script again after changing paths in both the top lines and run it.

That should fix this for most, if not everybody.

All I can say is that I'm very happy with my hosting, everything is very standard from top to bottom. I'm seeing some interesting things on other servers. Things so interesting, that I will never host there myself.

Fix 2

Sorry, forgot to mention something in fix one.

The templates are calling the old c++ scripts and will get 500 error since they don't exist on your server.

So change the channel.shtml and maintv.shtml templates from "vidp" to "vidp.cgi" and
"vlist" to "vlist.cgi"

upload the new install folder also, because editing a domain template does not edit the install folder because you may have more than one domain and
wouldn't want to do that.

You have to edit them with the template editor because re-install doesn't overwrite them. Overwriting would suck if you have built a awesome template and just wanted to upgrade a script and clicked install.

None of that worked. I give up. I've installed countless scripts for traffic trading, blogs, bulletin boards bla bla bla.. never had any problems. Maybe these servers aren't just like yours but surely there is a way to make it work on any hosts setup.

Uhh, thanks for being a beta tester like I said in the thread.

Other people who emailed me a server login have the script running.
You didn't want that kind of help, so what am I to do except guess at your problem.

I guess the question would have to be: Do the content producers and sites permit the use of their videos in this format? Is it acceptable to the programs for you to rip the videos out of the galleries without presenting them in format?

I did email it to you.. your reply..

I changed the script so it should correct that problem unless
your server returns garbage in the environment script_filename.
If so, then I can't fix that.

All I really wanted was an icq convo. since I was giving a stranger access to my server. If you took the extra 10 seconds to add me it would all be worked out but I guess that was too much to ask. I didn't mean to offend with my last post. It was just an observation. I've never seen anyone have so much trouble getting something to work.

You must have sent me the server login that didn't work.
Send me one that works and I'll take a look at it.
Try the login yourself before you send it.

The question is really going to be if sponsors who don't like it have any traffic in two years since this is the way things are going.

Besides, they have downloadable content that you can use in the script anyway. The script loads content about six differrent ways, just chose the way you think makes since.

I'm not telling anyone how to use the script I'm just making options availble for them to decide.

FIX 3

Added a test script to the install instructions:

#!/usr/bin/perl
use Image::Magick;
use LWP;
use LWP::Simple;
use URI::Escape 'uri_escape';
require LWP::UserAgent;
use HTTP::Request::Common;
use MIME::Base64;
require HTTP::Headers;
print "content-type: text/html\n\n";
print "Hurray!";
exit;

If that script cannot run on your server then it needs either or both "perl libwww" and "imagemagick" installed. Ask your host to do it.

Also changed the install instructions:
Do not chmod you cgi-bin or domain folder, the script will check it and bail out if you need to chmod. Only servers that require chmod 777 will need to do it manually.

Some of you who already chmoded 777 need to change back to 755 because your server is set to stop execution of cgi scripts if the directory is chmod 777(doesn't fit the standard of chmod, but they had reasons to do this).

I´ve got a domain which I didn´t do anything with. The name fits perfectly in the trailer niche. Are there licences left? If so, I´d give it a try.

Give it a try, I'm still giving out free licenses.
I decided to loosen the 20 license limit.
I'm going to give them out until I think it's enough.

FIX

vlist.cgi needed to chomp files; not required in former c++ and caused error when viewing mostviews or mostvotes pages.

Download zip file then upload the install folder again and click into the domain and click install.

If you ever update main.cgi do the same except run install.cgi.

What's the problem because most people are installing it without a problem now.

You have to download the script and install it before you can get a license.

Got it.

You don't have imagemagick installed on your server.

http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php

it's free.

That's the problem.

Solved, FTP must be used to upload in ascii. Unzipping on the server is not ascii upload, ie. it doesn't remove the EOL from the text files that windows stores in all files so the scripts fail.
