If the test script doesn't run then nothing will.

You either have :

- wrong path to perl
- imagemagick not installed on server
- libwww not installed on server

Remove "use Image::Magick; " from the text script.
if it runs then you don't have imagemagick
if it fails then you don't have libwww.

I wasn't trying to design cpanel, it probably was designed by about 20 differrent people.

Did you have to change your path to perl? If so, did you change it on BOTH lines in the install.cgi? If not then 500 error.

Also, if you didn't use the latest download then chmod your cgi-bin and domain folder to 755 if you get 500 error then run the install.cgi.

The previous download change those permissions to 777 which blocks cgi execution on some server set ups.

i am having some issues importing galleries, are there certain rules to importing galleries? Or do I have to upload thumbs manually?

Yeah, that's a propper error on that gallery. You can't "Pull Content" from that gallery because the thumbs are not linked to a mpg or wmv.

If you want to use those vids then you have to click thru to get the flash code on each vid and use "Load Content" and either upload the thumb to the
"loadmovthumbs" folder or put the full URL to the gallery thumb.

The best thing would be if your sponsor would dump a file with all the flash code in it for you and then you could load them all in one sweep.

That sucks if they won't do that, but try to explain that You would give the file to me and then everyone using my script would join their program.

I found that the .htaccess file within the movthumbs folder made all the thumbs broken images. I renamed it temporarily and that fixed the problem.

I still can't figure out how to code my html pages though. I checked the faq and its just not clear to me.

2) you need to name your files .shtml

Yeah man, that's all on the installation page.
The step by step instructions tell you to configure the script and the domain before you can see the images.

And yes, you need .shtml unless you set you server or domain to do SSI on .html pages.

You don't have to build html pages, the script does, just edit the template to make the html pages look like you want them to.

Put the htaccess file back or you will not be able to resize thumbs on the fly or manage more than one domain without duplicating thumbs.

Please don't post stuff here implying that people should remove something without asking me first. If someone listen to you about the htaccess file then there system would be wrecked and noone would know why.

Further, why are you renaming and or moving stuff to begin with?
I already thought out how this is going to work and it's like you trying to make it not work by changing it.

If you stick to flash videos that load from sponsors then 100k daily
traffic will cost between $60 and $150 bucks depending on the size of you thumbs and you hosting comapnies charge for banwidth.

If you host every single video then you should put all the videos on other servers and use a redirect script/htacess on the main server.
This way, the main server can handle millions of request and the video load is split between as many servers as you need.

When you get to the point where you need any of this it will be obvious what to do and you'd probably get an email from your hosting company advising you of what to do anyway.
I don't think your hosting company is going to hesitate to tell you that you need another dedicated server ASAP!

You don't need to make an index page with thumbs on it unless you want to.

Your index page can simply have an enter link to this:

http://yourdomain.com/channel.shtml/home

You can change "home" on the above link to any category you created with the script. The category is auto-created when you load video or save a video into a new category.

You do not have to build webpages; the script builds every single webpage you would need except an index.shtml

This script might only be a section of your website so it does not own the index page unless you want it to.

I'm so glad we got this worked out. I have been moving to a new place the last couple days but tonight I finally had some time to sit down and tinker with this. Within an hour I am up and running. Just started tweaking the templates. I'm very pleased with how easy it all is.

Here's my site in case anyone was wondering how it 'could' look. Keep checking back as I will continue to tweak the look. This site is far from finished. The nav bar and shit will likely change. I'm just using it as a placeholder for now to figure out the nuances of the template system.

If someone starts getting 100k hits a day they will have creeped up to that point and have earn $1000's already.

You don't put the script up on monday and get 100k hits on friday.


Believe me, if you ever get to 100k hits a day you will be able to pay all your bills.

You sound like a guy that was offered a free bar but turned it down when he learned his liquor bill would average $5,000 a month. If you sale $5000 worth of wholesale liquor then you made at least $50,000.

Your site is starting out really cool! I like it a lot.

Seems like you understand the concept, you use the templates to create the flavor of your site and the script is just another tool to manage your video.

I think you want to edit the "maintv page" template because you set your scrolling thumbs from "left to right" and you need to change the iframe in the template to fit it.

You can also dump the Iframe. When you edit the template change this

to this:

The iframe is cool if you like to have more thumbs than can fit on the page, but it's not neccessary.

I would cut the number of "Thumbs on maintv page" down to 4 in the domain config with the current layout.

you can also fit more thumbs in that layout by putting the "view/votes" in the same cell.

Making some templates is a good idea. I was going to do that myself but go for it and sell them. I think your templates would be better than mine by a long shot.
