12,50 to cash a check? You guys are getting so fucked over.

If it is a question of US dollar checks, I suspect it would be cheaper to hire someone in the US to receive your checks, cash them, and wire you the funds in a block.

yeah but for accounting/tax reasons the guy in the US wouldn't probably want it

let's say would YOU cash checks for someone for a few k's per month and then wire them to Netherlands? or to Poland for that matter?

I dont think so, even if you were getting some commision for it

$12.50 per foreign check is cheap.

Down here in Brazil I'm paying over $100 per US check cashed (that's why I currently only deal with wire transfers and Epass).

Rabobank can setup a bankaccount for you in the USA

You mail the cheques to the USA, they add it to your account in about a week and you can see the funds online and transfer it to your NL bank account. They cooperate with an USA bank to do this.

Costs are around 3-4$ per cheque. You might have to ask them if there's some kind of minimum amount you have to do each month though. My partner sends his low $ cheques there, around 5k$-10k$/month total and it's definitely worth it.

I forgot to add that I haven't heared from my Rabobank yet about this new rule.

I've noticed some Rabobanks have different rules when it comes to cashing cheques. Prices are the same everywhere, but some have problems with adult and some don't. My bank knows about the adult and they don't give a fuck.

I was with ABN-AMRO for a while until they started crediting 41 euros per cheque!!! had a hell of a time getting my cash refunded and i moved away from them.. i am with Postbank now and no problems.. although they charge 12.50 per cheque witch i think is total BS..

I stopped using checks a while ago, the fees are fucking rediculous. I think its even cheaper to get a WU. So strictly wires, ePass and PayPal for me now.

We're on the other side of the world (Aus), though the banks here are just as bad ($15/cheque), we had a good talk with our bank who talked to their international clearing department and now we do as many as we want (no minimums) for the one fee, we just need to provide a spreadsheet of all the cheques which is sent off with the cheques to their international department.

From what I understand the cheques are couriered to the US to their partner bank who then does the cashing of the cheques... because they can just send them all in one go it's just the one fee.
