And the fact is, it won't kill you to take 30 seconds out of your day and wash your grimy paws a couple of extra times. Is it really such an imposition?

I don't know what else to tell you.
to me, its not about whether or not its an imposition or not to wash your hands many extra times per day. i can use the same logic to suggest you do 1000 other things per day that aren't an "imposition" because it just takes a few minutes.

i usually take a couple showers a day. ... do i feel like touching anything and everything will kill me? cause infections? spread disease? uhm... no. do i feel unclean just because i touched my cock? no.

how far do you go? wash your hands in the bathroom and then firmly grab the door handle thats covered in bacteria, germs, viruses? or... do you wear gloves to prevent any transmission AFTER washing your hands? do we fear anything and everything because in spite of the fact that we're exposed to 1000's of horrible diseases, bacteria, germs etc daily like flesh eating viruses, hepititus or whatever out of the fear that in a 1:1,000,000,000 chance, our own immune system might fail us and we could say "oh... if i only had my super duty, anti bacterial, hospital quality soap with me... i might not be dying"

washing your hands obsessively is like anything else related to medicine. shit happens no matter what you do. you can't stop it. people get sick and die. it happens in all sorts of bizarre and unfair ways. i can make a case for doing 1,000,000 different things related to health and disease that can make your life safer (supposedly) just as you are trying right now. and...?

washing your hands like this has nothing to do with rational fears... it has EVERYTHING to do with some distorted and misguided personal idea that you are somehow safer. that you somehow have one more degree of control and say in your own mortality.

you body was doing just fine warding off all these alleged threats well before things were as clean as they are today. your body has been doing it for millions of years. it doesn't need your help combating the billions of germs, bacteria and virsuses it comes into contact with everyday. in fact, it has a massively complex system to fight and defend itself against these threats and washing your hands because you got piss on them (which is sterile anyway) doesn't do anything at all to change the fact that your entire day is filled with exponentially greater exposure to similar threats outside the bathroom.

You're mistaken.

By your logic, wiping your ass is a waste of time because the world's not going to come to an end if you don't.

It's not about mortality... it's about basic hygiene. Responsibility for your own waste.

Sure, there's stuff growing all over you all the time - and sure your body is fighting them all off... but taking a moment to simple wash off the fecal matter that _does_ collect on your hands after wiping your ass, or washing away the urine that _does_ sprinkle over your hand as you're managing your penis is just a common sense thing in helping your body's immune system do its job.... and a common courtesy to others to not smear your microscopic shit and piss all over them, their money, and their doorknobs.

There are all sorts of baddies growing in fecal matter.... E. coli, for one, is a feces loving bacteria... microscopic bits of fecal matter in your eye is what leads to pink eye... staph infections, strep throat - both are so prevalent in our society because of people who literally refuse to wash the shit off their hands. Urine is also one of the better bacterial growth mediums that your body produces... and every time you take a piss (assuming you're guiding your stream and shaking those last few drops), you've just pissed all over your hands as well.

It's not about a hopeless pursuit... it's about common sense and general health. You hands are the main contact sources with these bacterial cultures... and you have direct contact with them, or their most favorite food source, _every time_ you go to the bathroom... so why not wash that shit off?

If more people applied basic hygiene - simply taking showers once every few days, and washing their hands after they take a crap - there wouldn't be as much shit everywhere for the rest of us to deal with.... and then at least pink eye, staph infections, and strep throat cases would drop down significantly, if nothing else.

To claim that it'd have no effect is a profoundly ignorant statement.

If I'm just taking a piss, I wash my hands BEFORE AND after I piss, as I know exactly where my dick has been all day, I can't say the same thing for my hands, and everything / everyone, I've touched.

If I'm taking a dump, I ALWAYS wash afterwards.

The fact of the matter is constant hand washing does not make you safer or more healthy, in fact, it makes you less healthy. Your immune system works because of its exposure to germs. If you wash your hands constantly, and do all of the other stuff that people germ obsessive do like Lysol'ing door knobs and light switches daily and using that soapless anti-bacterial hand wash stuff constantly, your body will no longer be exposed to enough germs to keep your immune system active. Inactive immune systems, like muscles on your body, wither and die if they aren't given something to do.

One Benydryl will halt an allergy attack. Two will halt it quicker. Three will put you to sleep. Taking the whole bottle will cause death. Like most things, too much of one thing is just as bad as not enough.

The people who are Lysol'ing their homes and using handwash all the time are doing so because they believe everything they see on TV, namely ads for Lysol and Purell hand cleaners. If a little cleanliness is good, more must be better is the overall message that these commercials send. Like most things with corporate America, the commercials are to sell products, not inform consumers.

Usually before, always after. However, I don't dry my hands in most public restrooms here, especially in the provinces....they just have one normal bath towel like you would have in your home for everyone to share, lmao!

We're not talking about obsessive hand-washing here.

We're talking about washing your hands after you get through splashing urine and fecal matter on them.

I'll admit that there are some sects of our civilization that are a bit germ-phobic... anti-bacterial this, and anti-bacterial that... and the impacts of those products on us are certainly up for discussion

But you seem to be confusing over-sanitizing with basic hygiene.

All this talk of fecal matter has me confused... The thread title says "restrooms", which implies public places and thus peeing...

Who shits in public? That's gross.

Who said anything about constant handwashing? You guys keep chirping on about obsessive compulsive behavior yet the only ones I see exhibiting it is you yourselves, by continually arguing a point that isn't even relevant to the discussion. The ONLY thing I've put forth in this thread is the following: People in general could stand to wash their hands just a few extra times throughout their day.

Which is perfectly right to say, and 100% wrong (not to mention quite stupid) to disagree with.

It's been said repeatedly in this thread and on every link I posted earlier that regular handwashing reduces the spread of disease-causing germs and also lessens your own chances of contracting something nasty. I don't see how that can be disagreed with, it's a fact supported by every health care agency and professional in the modern universe.

But, if you guys in your ignorant wisdom prefer to save your 30 or 40 seconds per day and walk around with urine on your hands and everything else you've collected from door knobs, keyboards, phones, money, handshakes, fridge handles, steering wheels, and a 1000 other things you touched during the course of your day, be my guest. Personally I know it's not asking too much of someone to just shut up and wash your damn hands boys. Not obsessively, just a few extra times a day.

If more people did it there WOULD be far less speading of colds and flu and a host of other illnesses. That's a bad thing how?

Anyone with half a clue knows it isn't, it's a good thing.

as i have said... i'm not arguing your "point" - i was commenting within the context of the thread topic (you're apparently not) and the notion that suddenly, in the last decade or so, its become necessary to wash your hands after using the restroom for health reasons - when in the last 15-20 million years of existence, it hasn't been.

I'm exactly on point with the topic. You aren't. You too have mentioned the word "obsessive" in your posts, and the topic title doesn't indicate that at all. It merely asks if you wash your hands after you use the washroom.

Some of your mommy's obviously didn't teach you guys to wash up after going wee wee or poo poo. What you need to do now as an adult is stop rationalizing your bad behavior and quit being so lazy and irresponsible and start getting in the habit of doing the right thing.

What better time to take a few seconds to wash your hands than when you're actually IN the WASH room? The sink and soap are there for a reason, how hard is it to figure out how to use them?

And your whole aregument about the immune system is foolish. Want a strong immune system? Take care of yourself, eat right and stay fit, and go get a flu shot. Having a strong immune system doesn't mean you're supposed to not wash your hands, rub your eye and constantly introduce a host of disease-carrying germs into your body. The idea most people have is they want LESS sickness in their lives, not more.

But you do it your way. Remind me if we ever meet in person to refrain from shaking your hand though will you? Thanks. No offense. :D

I always wash my hands, and hate that the door opens inwards so it requires me to grab a handle. On the way in I can nudge it with my elbow, or push it at a higher level than all of the grime around the average hand height.

Then again, I hardly ever use a public toilet... probably only a few times per year.

You know poop bacteria travels through multiple levels of toilet paper, right? You get fecal matter on your hands every time you wipe.

So, you're saying because I think it's a good idea to wash the crap off your hands a few times a day I obviously suffer from some form of depression and need meds for it?

You are a retard.

Sadly, there are no meds for that.

Reading is obvoiusly not your strong suit. That information is already in this thread in several posts.

How can anyone but the truly braindead not know that allowing trace amounts of fecal matter and urine on your hands, not to mention all the rest of the grime you've accumulated throughout the course of your day is a harmful thing?

"handwashing is for wussies" ??

My god, the sheer idiocy.

I wash whenever I can and whenever conditions allow. For example, seems more often than not I walk into public restrooms that ran out of soap and paper towels and the blower isn't working. Sucks to be in that situation. And on top of that the door opens inwards.

Poor choice of restrooms perhaps, but when you're about to pee in your pants you can't be too picky about where to take a leak.

I wonder how many of you actually wash your hands after you cum on them, since we all know that despite the numerous posts to the contrary, most of the people on here don't get any and are thus left to their own devices for relief.
