Macro help with photoshop (mass resizing)

Anyone have any bookmarks for help pages or tutorials on how to create a macro in photoshop 6?

*im assuming a macro is what i want ...

I have assloads of content that i bought but do not use, but instead of throwing them away id like to just back them up. However id like to reduce the size first because even if i do use them i wont need the huge dimensions.

So in one folder i have about 15,000 images that are 1024x768 ... id like to cut that in half while still maintaining some quality. I say that because i have another program that if i tell it to resize my photo by 50% it basically trashes the quality.

Is there a way to make PS do the entire folder? Or do you recommend a different program?

Thanks everyone!

- Richie

photoshop can do what you want. just create an action that resizes for you and saves in another folder.

15,000 is a lot in one folder. I would break that up into 1000 file sets. ICQ me if you want a walkthrough.

I wouldn't consider 1024x768 as a huge size, I actually wouldn't want a file smaller than that myself.

Actions in Photoshop will do it for you, you can also make a droplet, but not sure if PS 6 makes droplets.

Sorry, they are actually broken up in sub folders ... in sets and such.

I would seriously reconsider resizing those images, 1024x768 is not "large" by any stretch (plenty of FHGs have this size) and the "expected" dimensions are only going to get larger over time. (When was the last time you saw a 400px FHG sample?)

15,000 images is probably a few gigs, are you really that hard up for space? Archive them to DVD...
