Thinking of buying a NAS, anyone hwo can recomment a brand ?

IŽll be using it for backup via my home netowork and ekstra storage space for my new laptop, it should have ftp, so my family can backup via the internet, and http-server would not hurt either.

Oh year and the price should be in the lower end of the spectrum.

Any recommendations ?

Be aware that most of the cheap consumer level NAS's are incredibly slow, some have gigabit ethernet ports when they wouldn't even saturate a 100Mbit port.

Thanks but that will not give me the ekstra-space-on-laptop any faster than my internet, and thats to slow.

HP EX470/HP EX475 is the newest option. No RAID but you can selectively pick content to be duplicated on another drive. Result is better xfer speeds than other options out there.

I'm between this and the ReadyNAS NV+. Little old and slow but they seem to have the best developers/support which I think is the most important thing for crucial data.

Saw a review of the HP, they say its to slow on alot of points.

The ReadyNAS looks real nice, but its a little expensive. But i love the fact that it has a printserver as well :D
