XBox Question
Why in the fluck does every game have you hit the Start button once it loads? All it ever does then is take you to the main menu. Why not just go to the main menu? This is the same kind of annoyance as the 35 seconds of "To leave a callback number press five... to page this person..." Just fucking BEEP already!!!
I need my meds.

My guess is that when you load it they want to play their ultra cool video sequence for you before you play the game, just so you know how much it will supposedly rock. Pushing that button is simply a way of having you submit to their will and sell a small piece of your soul.

The still use teh 'start' button to advance to the menu for a few reasons. One, if it is selected for a demo in a game shop, it will play trailer and/or gameplay as a means of promotion.
The other, is for screen protection. Since the start menu generally has a more going on, if someone was to pop it in and walk away for a few, it won't leave a static image on the screen that could burn in.

It's funny that you brought this up, i was thinking about this the other day, How Halo 3 goes right to the menu, but COD4 you gotta "Press Start"
Many games will still go to the cinematic "screen saver" even after you have pushed start to go to the menu. |
