Serious question - As I work for a US company can I just move to the US?

I have always fancied a little place by the sea in Maine.

If I am earning US money I may as well spend it there...

They could most likely help you with getting a green card, yes.

Serious Answer - No.

No, legal immigration into the US is impossible. You might as well give up. You're only option--besides the L1--is to apply for an H1B visa.

The company could help you, in the form of being your sponsor... But they would have to prove that

1) You needed to actually be in the USA to do your job... (Not Easy for an Internet based job)

2) That someone who is already a USA citizen, could not do your job instead of you.. (Again, hard to prove with an Internet based job... No offence)

Now, if you were married to a USA citizen, (As I am) And have a sponsor OFFERING you a job... That's a bit different...

But if your gay then the marriage would be an issue...

If YOU REALLY REALLY WANTED to get a green card... Then go over on a visitors visa, marry a guy in a gay wedding ceremony, in a state that allows this... then claim a green card off of that... If they say no, cry DISCRIMINATION !!!

actually it's funny, thats so different from my life

I cant really imagine that i am in London, then move spontaneously to Spain, then get hired by an US company and suddenly think about moving there...

perhaps I'm missing something in life, by not living that way though....

well I guess you don't really plan on marrying someone and having kids

so perhaps its easier for you just to do whatever you want all the time, and if you make good money then you can just rent some condo wherever you're living currently, without thinking much about the future... .... and then you divide your time between working and going out to gay bars picking up twinks....

you can basically do it all your life.... also, you can change places forever.... well... hm... doesnt sound bad (minus the part of getting fucked in the ass and sucking cocks...)

I work for a US company (just by contract) and they won't even let me in for fear that I am an evil terrorist hell bent on stealing America's jobs.

Honestly - I always thought there is this very logical and hassle free permission if you are already employed by a US company..

What's wrong with spending the money you already earn from the US guys in the States?

Got me... I wasn't even heading to the same state as the company that I work for. In fact, my return flight was in 2 days. So I'd be in the US for a whopping 1 day (2 nights).

And yet they said no. I got turned back because apparently I was heading in for a 1 day career.

Thats the way I looked at it.

I would be paying taxes in the States as well. I would have thought there would have been a way in that way.... even if they said you cant use the welfare system for 10 years or something like that.

As it stands I am just taking money out of the country.

Edit: I misunderstood..

Thats as straight forward as it gets... Its the exact same thing Im currently involved in myself, so I have a lot of first hand experience of it...

If you read my location on the left, you'll see it says San Diego, but currently in UK...

Thats the deal. I live in SD but Im currently in the UK, awaiting my visas etc to be able to return 'home'

Logic is not involved in the immigration subject, so stop thinking that way, you'll only get frustrated.
