I guess I have no choice, right?

My son called to inform me that he and his new bride were in the general vicinity having dinner with her dad, and they wanted to come over afterwards.

No problem.

He also said he wanted me to give her her first ride on a Harley.

No problem . . . well as far as I am concerned anyway.

Evidently, she was a little worried about riding on the freeway. My son (and I) assured her that she had nothing to worry about.

She agreed but said, "if I like it too much, your dad may have to give you one of his bikes."

I take that to mean I need to scare the crap out of her . . . right?

What I find amusing Lloyd is that you love your kids that much you'd probably give up the bike in a heartbeat if it aided their continued happiness.

It'd hurt, but you'd do it just the same.

Merry Christmas buddy ;-)

Well, I am a little torn on that subject. In fact I was telling my son a few weeks ago that if I died he could not have any of my bikes because I would not want him to end up joining me as a result of killing himself on one of them.

He plans on taking MSF training in 2008, so we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

And Merry Christmas to you and yours Lindsay.

This isn't really conducive to wheelies.

I have ridden since a turning 16 and getting my ninja 250 working my way up to a gsxr750 while stationed at FT Stewart. Got rid of it though when i got back to the crazy streets of florida. Since then I have known two close freinds to pass while riding a bike. One was killed by his own freind driving a car on his street. Most people die on bikes because of other drivers. Doesnt really matter if you can ride well or not anymore.

Why am I an idiot fuck face. One of my freinds was an avid rider for 15 years and belonged to multiple bike clubs yet that didnt help him when the old man pulled his car in front of him from a mall parking lot.

Like i said, it does not matter if you are a good rider or not.

Very true. My one (and only) motorcycle accident was riding with someone who had ridden bikes almost all his life. When a car took a left in front of us ("I didn't see them") and he dropped the bike instead of hitting her, he saved both our lives. Broke the shit out of my leg and I had 3 surgeries and some awesome scars, but the alternative was a lot worse.

It's not the rider, it's everyone else. Personally I won't ride again because of that but before then, the only time I rode was out in rural areas just because of stuff like this.

Hey, don't let the fact that you can't sire children stop you.

Just as a side note, her dad was there when I picked her up. In fact, at their wedding he was hinting around that since we are "family" now, I should let him borrow one of my bikes.
