:stop The Final Solution to Torrents and Tubes

Start suing the downloaders (surfers), same way the music industry has. Not only they will have to pay damages but also their employers and wifes will find out they are downloading pornography.

You realize that has backfired on the music industry.

If you haven't noticed every label has now dropped DRM. It's a new world adapt or die.

You can sue anyone that has money, music downloaders were sued in the UK, Australia, France etc.

Backfired? quite the opposite, many freeloaders decided it was worth spending a few dollars to get legal music rather than risk legal action.

bad idea.

the way to stop torrent sites: build tons of fake torrent sites.

Right now people associate the word 'torrent' with the word 'free'. We need to end that. So just build tons of fake torrent sites (filled with popups) and make sure they rank higher in the SERPS than the real torrent sites. Surfers will start to associate the word 'torrent' with "a waste of time", "popup hell",...

That is one way. I think that is why tev is a good idea for tube sites. There will be so many tube sites with 20 second crappy clips people will stop looking for them.

Another way would be is to have sponsors make it so the surfer can not right click save as. That would stop everything within weeks. Assuming the majority of the larger sponsors did it. But right now I do not think many sponsors care, its free ads on tube sites getting millions of hits a month.

Fantastic suggestion. So let's say I want to take down Facebook, all I have to do is create a few thousand fake social networking sites filled with popups and presto, Facebook is gone. Can't wait to start working on it.

The way to beat torrent and tube sites is to provide a product and/or service that they can't provide. You really think surfers join a site just for the photos and videos? I can do pushups and situps at home for free, but I prefer to pay a gym fee and do it there because they provide better resources.

exactly watch mark pierces speach "piracy is good" on youtube

he was talking about tv, while his advertising models was flawed because he failed to take into account product placement, his comments about moving to live events was spot on

you need to provide them live interaction (something they can't get from the torrent sites/ tube sites)

Sure the music industry has alienated a whole generation of listeners. REAL fucking smart. A lot of people didn't buy music not because they want something for free because they didn't want music with DRM that limits how they can listen to music they paid for. Why pay 99 cents for a song that can only be played on certain music players? Amazon now sells non-DRM music by the major labels. And the # of people paying for music has gone up. Hmmmm. I think the getting rid of DRM has more to do with that than lawsuits.

The way to stop torrents is to stop them from having sponsors. If they have copyright content then they are illegal. If they can block child porn then they can block copyright content so that is not an excuse. If a sponsor works with a site that has copyright content then both the sponser (including Google AdSense) and the site lose their merchant accounts (ability to process transactions).

If the sites can't make money then they can't pay for their bandwidth bills and they close down. Simple.

torrent sites are like text only man, they don't host anything.. So their costs are like $0 anyways.

That's a solution, but since people tend to care for themselves alot more than for the industry, there will always be sponsors using a "Keep your friends close, keep you enemies closer" policy and pay those guys. More money for both of them, no long clips of the sponsor on the tube because they depend on the payouts, both are happy.

I could imagine that many programs switch to (secured, non-downloadable) streaming only long term, people get used to it by using tubes anyway, no more video downloads. With the average bandwidth of internet connections constantly rising, streaming high quality video is no longer a problem.

Noone wants to be the first, since you could lose customers pretty much like with DRM, but give it another year or two.

I don't think you can solve the problem by trying to pull the tube owners or users to court any more. Look what happened in the music industry, once pandora's box is open too long, you won't get it closed any more.

The only solution to killing torrent sites is to take down the host of the files.
Then they have nothing to link to. RapidShare needs to go and 90% of those torrent sites will die.

But as normal, someone else will start one in 1-2 weeks and we're back to sqaure one.

Streaming videos can also be saved, just need the right software.

Another solution is to encode each video with the member's encrypted username/ip that way if the video shows up on tubes/torrents the culprit can be identified. The technology already exists.

Torrent sites rely on their users. More users = more leechers = more uploaders = faster downloads = more returning users = more users =... (that's the way those torrent protocols were designed). Now, torrent sites have 2 kinds of users: a small group that never buys anything and a big group nontechnical people that ended up on a torrent site because the torrent sites were listed in the SERPS for some porn related keyword or because they heard about "that great free source of porn named torrent" from one of their friends and decided to google for it. So go after their SE traffic and you take away their biggest source of users (those are the only users who'd click the ads they're running).

Yes sites with illegal content are illegal. Yes, illegal sites should be taken down. Yes, thieves should be punished for their actions. Yes,... Yes,...
But if all of those things would really be that simple, don't you think all torrent (and illegal tube) sites would be gone already?

There is a difference. When Madonna's label sues people for downloading Madonna music, it's a negative PR for Madonna but porn companies don't have that kind of problem.

The answer is to sue some bug uploaders to make an example. Frighten the big uploaders and it will make a big impact.

Most of the time the uploaders ARE the tube site. They signup so they have an excuse about it being uploaded, and its not their fault. Of course, proving that is hard. You would need their server logs which can be changed. It's a loophole for them to use.

Zorgman: in the case of torrent site: downloaders = uploaders. (so reducing their amount of downloaders does reduce their amount of uploaders).

LOL... Find another business to get into or go back to fixing cars, waiting tables, or whatever it was you did before you got into adult..

You have fucked yourselves by not having the ability to think outside the box...

You lost the battle before you even started by trying to outdo each other by giving away more free content than the others...

Membership sites will be a thing of the past within the next 3-5 years...

Adapt to the new trends or move on...

hahaha, torrent sites and tube sites are the non-geeks way of getting to content, where do you think the tards that post it up on torrent sites and tube sites get it from ?

Stopping illegal file sharing (of ANY file) is pretty much close to impossible, there are too many ways to get a few bits from one node to another ..

It loses people money and it sucks, oh well, nothing to do about it. Yes you could start going after tons of people and make it 'public' LOL yea ok... so you can put a 1% dent on the problem.

And just like everyone else said... about anyone and their little sister can get online and still find free music, so I really dont think the music industry has succeeded much in stopping it, at all.

There are plenty of all you can eat sites with no DRM... as well as VOD sites. We use DRM and the review sites give me bad reviews. The production companies spend a lot of money producing this content so we do care about piracy and protection of it. The sites that just buy non exclusive content could give a shit. If anyone wants to hear more about the idea of going after the illegal downloaders hit me up. I have considered no DRM with all of our movies but if we do that they get on the torrent sites that much quicker. However the day the DVD is released they can also rip it and put up very quickly too. We see who's ads are on the torrents and tube sites...

I'm sure everyone can afford to sue them all. So are you offering to pay the costs of litigation? Or this another un-actionable "solution" that's kind of like waxing sadly poetic and wistful?

OMG YOU GET IT!!!! Mad kudos for understanding the secret weapon in the battle. DIFFERENTIATION! Give the people something at your site that they can't get just downloading your content off a torrent or tube site, and they will come ANYWAYS, for the EXPERIENCE! Give the people what they want and what they can't get anywhere else, and they will come. There is more to porn than just the content. For many of our consumers, porn is a lifestyle for them, as in, it's a part of their lifestyle they enjoy. They are human, though, after all, and they have more needs than just wanking. Fulfill some of their other needs, and suddenly you become indispensible, regardless of who hijacks your content.

1- 100 in-house lawyers will NEVER be cheap.

2- The music industry already sued a lot of people. It didn't stop illegal music sharing.

A lot of people here didn't even have lawyers to deal with the 2257 issues when it was at the forefront of people's minds.. No way they're going to afford in-house lawyers to fight content thieves.

Do you guys produce your own DVD's and content for your sites? Feel free to contact me and I can explain more. No I am not offering to pay for litigation but please email me or icq me so I can at least explain what we are trying to do.

I wrote the software for all members areas that tracks all the downloads, and allows you tie back a movie on rapidshare etc to the user who originally downloaded it

News flash for those who think all porn is going to be free. Before that happens governments will start filtering porn off the internet all around the world.Old Politicans dont understand bt's or news groups or tgps for that matter but good old tubes sites its point and click. Anti-porn groups just have to show them how easy it is for kids to see a few full anal scenes and the fun will start. Mark my works and then everyone can cry why are they picking on us.
