Ping-o-matic only or your own custom ping list?
Bloggers, do you just use Ping-o-matic, or your own custom ping list?
I would think the latter is the best to get a wider coverage, especially if pingo blacklists your domains. Opinions? If you know of a good custom list, please post a url. Cheers. |

A custom list is always better, since the only advantage of pingomatic is that pinging takes less time.
There are quite a few disadvantages: - If they ban you your pinging will be completely useless - Due to the number of pings they get, some are simply ignored/lost/not working for other reasons, even if they report a successful ping - You are missing out some services really worth pinging - You are limited in the ammount of pings to pages on the same URL you can send from one IP in a given time period, especially bad when using desktop based pingers for mass pinging (e.g. to get huge sites indexed faster) |
